An engaging comedy which has the two leads (Gelin and Petit) playing two generations of characters. As artist Edouard Lavigne, Gelin falls in love with his red-headed model, Julie (Petit), and wants to marry her. His father, however, wants him to carry on in the family nail business. He

agrees, though always wishing he had pursued his artistic goal. After a number of years Edouard dies, leaving behind a son, Jean, and two-thirds of the estate to "Julie the Redhead." Jean goes on a search for this Julie in order to buy out a controlling portion, but learns that the woman has died.

She has left the inheritance to her daughter, who soon is courted by the greedy Jean. In order to acquire her riches, Jean marries Julie. On the wedding night he is told that his wife is not really the redhead's daughter, but a shrewd niece, who is also trying deceptively to make some cash. This

well-scripted and humorous film was originally released in Paris in 1959.
