A charming comedy that shows off Garson's flair for light-heartedness in an unaccustomed role. This time, she's a vaudevillian in England who is always on the brink of bankruptcy. With her innate charm, she gets her various friends to ease her debts but she is always one step ahead of her
creditors. Garson was once married to Pidgeon but hasn't seen him or her daughter, Taylor, for almost 20 years. An invitation to Taylor's wedding arrives. Taylor and Pidgeon currently live in France with his tyrannical matriarch, Watson. Garson gets the necessary money for the channel crossing
from Owen, a long-time crony. On the boat, she encounters Boland and her quintet of acrobatic sons, a circus act visiting Paris for an engagement. When Boland takes ill, Garson replaces her in the act and does some singing and an hysterical attempt at tumbling. Romero, one of the circus people,
falls for her, but she bids him farewell in order to get to the wedding at Watson's huge chateau. Watson is all ice but Pidgeon and Taylor are thrilled to see her. Needing money to buy a wedding gift, Garson returns to Paris, toys with British nabob Bruce, buys the gift, and races back to the
chateau where she learns that Taylor is really in love with Lawford, not her intended. Garson encourages Taylor as Pidgeon finds himself falling in love with Garson again. Romero arrives and rankles as he sees Garson and Pidgeon getting closer. Bruce arrives and it turns out he's a friend of
Watson's. Garson attempts to explain what she did in Paris with Bruce and Taylor and Lawford elope. Pidgeon and Garson chase the youngsters and wind up stranded in a chalet in the mountains where they reaffirm their love for each other. A knockabout farce with several wonderful slapstick scenes
and an opportunity for Garson to let her usually coiffed red hair down. Lola Albright and Joi Lansing are briefly seen in bits. Don't miss this one.
