Excellent. Pollock (in civilian life an American magician) is the son of a man driven to suicide by banker Vitold. For revenge he kidnaps Vitold at a masked ball and (while disguised) tells the banker's daughter, Scob, of her father's immoral dealings. She promptly reacts by denying her

inheritance. Berge is a governess in love with Vitold but having an affair with Sarapo. Eventually she kills her lover then herself, and Vitold commits suicide, leaving Pollock and Scob to marry. Though the story sounds gruesome and complicated it's really quite well done. The film even has a

circus aerialist. This is based on a 12-part 1917 serial of the same name by Louis Feuillade (who created the original FANTOMAS). This version was directed by Franju, known for THE HORROR CHAMBER OF DR. FAUSTUS. It was released in France and Italy in 1964, with the American preview two years

later.
