Hammack is an Indian half-breed who is arrested and jailed for 30 days for urinating in public. He escapes and hides out in the woods, hallucinating about his problems and the clash between his two heritages. Eventually he is befriended by a young girl who takes him to a cabin hide out.

Here he finds happiness until a posse tracks him down and shoots him. Though well meaning, the film is hampered by self-conscious "arty" techniques. There is a preponderance of symbolism, and the transitions between reality and hallucination do not always work. Hammack carries the film nicely,
