Low-budget filmmaker Edward D. Wood, Jr. (the man who made such terrible films as PLAN NINE FROM OUTER SPACE, and GLEN OR GLENDA) is up to his usual tricks with this movie. The story has the good son of plastic surgeon Rawlinson turning to crime under the influence of Farrell, a juvenile

delinquent. After Rawlinson's son kills a night watchman during a theater holdup, he is, in turn, "bumped off" by Farrell when, stricken with guilt, he wishes to confess. But Farrell and Rawlinson's son were identified during the robbery, so Farrell goes to Rawlinson. He says he has hidden

Rawlinson's son, and threatens that unless Rawlinson performs plastic surgery to disguise Farrell, Rawlinson will never see his son alive. Rawlinson agrees to Farrell's demands, but just before the operation he discovers his dead son's body. Rawlinson performs the operation anyway, and when the

bandages are removed two weeks later, Farrell is shocked to discover the face of Rawlinson's murdered son replacing his own. Minutes later, Farrell is killed while trying to escape from the police, who are still searching for the holdup man, Rawlinson's son. Reeves, in his first speaking role, and

Talbot are hysterical as a couple of detectives. This was Rawlinson's last film; he died the day following the film's completion. The minstrel show production number was borrowed from a 1951 movie, YES SIR, MR. BONES; the score was lifted directly from MESA OF LOST WOMEN.
