Nearly a carbon copy of THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD, this medieval fantasy concerns evil wizard Thatcher who attempts to regain lost magical powers by abducting princess Meredith. The hardy Mathews, a farmer's son, kills the wizard's giant servant and rescues Meredith, whereupon he is
asked to escort the damsel to safety at a faraway convent. Over the course of the trip Mathews must battle an assortment of fantastic creatures with the aid of a magic leprechaun, a dog, and even a chimpanzee. The wizard tries to stop the crew one last time when he turns himself into a dragon, but
he is promptly slain for a happy ending. The live animation was created by Jim Danforth, who earlier worked on the popular "Gumby" shorts with Art Clokey. Despite its borrowed plot line, the film carries its own share of fun thrills. Kids will love it.
