This badly scripted Boetticher western is redeemed by Ryan's great performance. Ryan and Hudson are half-brothers who go their separate ways after the Civil War. Hudson decides to settle down and become a rancher, but Ryan, who has grown accustomed to action and violence, launches a campaign to build a personal empire in the West.
