Gately's popular newspaper comic strip "Heathcliff" finally makes it to the big screen, although the film's secondary appellation is a complete misnomer. HEATHCLIFF: THE MOVIE is actually "Heathcliff: The Saturday Morning Cartoon Show Edited for Theatrical Release."Some new introductory

footage has been added, but the body consists merely of some rehashed adventures that have been run countless times on TV. The opening has the title feline kitten-sitting for his three nephews, keeping the kits amused by relating some of his past escapades. Animation is of the substandard caliber

that permeates television, and the gags are predictable. Even the presence of Blanc's voice for the star isn't enough to provide any substantial enjoyment. Although the movie was made for kids, even the younger set will find it boring after the first 30 minutes.
