Mary Wilson (Simmons) decides that she's not happy with her 16-year marriage to her tax-lawyer husband Fred (Forsythe), so she walks out In Search of Herself in this initially intriguing but ultimately annoying drama. The search runs the gamut of booze, affairs and drugs as her unhappy
life unfolds. This slowly leads up to a resolution that is halfhearted at best. Jean Simmons struggles valiantly but no avail; she's defeated by writer-director Brooks's dreary, overwritten screenplay.
