A spicy early talkie saddled with a dull visual sense and a hackneyed script sees a complicated flashback structure as the only point of interest. During a murder trial, different viewpoints as to the exact events the night of the killing are enacted. The prosecution sees vampish wife Duncan cleverly getting her husband, Lowe, out of the house so that she may greet her lover, Baxter. When Lowe returns unexpectedly, catching his wife dressed in a scanty nightgown with her arms around Baxter, a struggle ensues, leaving Baxter dead. The defense, however, sees the crime another way. In its version, Baxter is hopelessly in love with Duncan, who, due to her loyalty to Lowe, drives the obsessed Baxter to suicide. The truth, of course, isn't even close to the prosecution and defense versions. Shocked into a confession when Lowe is convicted of murder, Duncan announces that she killed Baxter because he had deserted her and left her with a child years ago. A loose remake of this material was released under the same title in 1942.
