Donald O'Connor chews up the scenery as the stage hand for a poor group of players who are touring the West along the edge of civilization. They all yearn to be thespians and none more avidly than O'Connor. He manages to capture bank robber Brennan (a familiar face in post offices across the west) and becomes a hero. Price hams it up as the Barrymore type who has seen better days and whose words are a mixed bag of play dialog; Arden is Storm's mother, a one-time actress, and Storm is O'Connor's amour. It's a barely passable programmer that is only distinguished by the sprightliness of the cast as they read their lines and sing a few old-time songs. Eve Arden was only 10 years Gale Storm's senior but she always played characters much older. Like Angela Lansbury, Arden is one of the most durable "old" women in movies. Songs include: "Be My Little Bumble Bee" (Murphy, Marshall), "Waiting at the Church" (Pether, Leigh), "Are You from Dixie?."
