Chisum: Review

A traditional action-packed western starring Wayne in the title role, playing the same rugged character he had played in dozens of his other films and that became his trademark. This time he is the largest land-and-cattle owner of the Pecos in New Mexico. He watches his community fall under the villainous yoke of land baron Tucker, and when Wayne feels he has gone far enough, he goes into action. Based loosely on the accounts of the Lincoln County wars, which took place in the 1870s, the film attempts to give an accurate feel for the time period. Included in the war was the final gunfight between Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, which finds itself as an integral part of the plot.
