Darren McGavin is a rookie cop going undercover to expose a gambling ring that's buying off large portions of the police force. He takes up with Hayes, whose husband killed himself over gambling debts, despite the fact that he is married to McCay. The story is further complicated because
the superiors he is reporting to are under the influence of the racketeers he's investigating. The film ends with fellow cop and friend Hutton murdered, McCay blown up, and McGavin in the hospital. This is based on a true story, and is not bad at all.
