Linden is visiting Manhattan from a small town in Indiana. He meets his cousin Catlett and ends up with unexpected troubles. Catlett throws a party at Linden's hotel room and a young girl is killed by a bottle someone throws. Everyone flees, including Linden, along with his newfound girl friend Blondell.
