Primarily silly piece of sci-fi sexploitation based on the adult comic-strip created by French artist Jean-Claude Forest. Vadim's direction is pretty tedious, and his main aim seems to be titillation. Jane Fonda plays a 41st-century space adventuress who begins the film in a capsule heading for the planet Lythion. Robert Rodriguez has signed on to direct a new film adaptation of the sci-fi comic-book series Barbarella, previously committed to celluloid by Jane Fonda circa 1968.... Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will make its international premiere June 28 in Japan. Why there? "No special reason," a studio rep tells Reuters.... Per Variety, Brendan Fraser has finally signed on the dotted line for The Mummy 3, but leading lady Rachel Weisz took a big, fat pass. The follow-up, penned by Smallville's Miles Millar and Al Gough, features Jet Li as the baddie.... Producers Dino and Martha De Laurentiis are out to reinvent Barbarella as "a free, modern gal who survives in a futuristic world through her intelligence, fighting skills and sexuality." Hate to say it, but Lindsay Lo just found a franchise (intelligence can always be faked).... Question: Years ago in German film class, I saw a movie called Der Schimmelreiter, starring John Phillip Law. I recently read more
