The Arizona Kid: Review

A sequel to the first Cisco Kid talkie, IN OLD ARIZONA (1929), starring Baxter who is this time billed as "The Arizona Kid." While the first film was a critical and popular success (it won Academy Award nominations for best picture and best director), the sequel is a lackluster attempt to recapture the previous magic. The plot concerns Baxter who is hiding from the law in Rockville, Arizona. The former bandit lives off the proceeds from his private gold mine, but the sheriff suspects the miner of robbing a stagecoach. Meanwhile, Baxter has thrown dance-hall girl Maris over for a treacherous vamp, Lombard.
