An enjoyable mix of fine animation, catchy songs, and outstanding voice characterizations, THE ARISTOCATS concerns an eccentric, wealthy Frenchwoman who leaves her fortune to her cat Duchess (Eva Gabor) and her three kittens. The woman's butler is next in line for the inheritance should

anything happen to the cats. Determined to get rid of the animals, he drugs the felines and dumps them in the countryside hoping they won't find their way home. The cats meet up with a tough alley cat (Phil Harris) who helps them regain their fortune. On the way they meet a wide variety of animals

and even stop to listen to the Scat Cat (Scatman Crothers) and his jazz band. Maurice Chevalier came out of retirement to sing the film's theme song.
