The Americanization Of Emily: Review

Chayefsky-scripted military snakepit, with Garner as cowardly fallguy for Normandy invasion. The standout in the cast is Julie Andrews, whose quality of sexy chill has never been used as effectively, before falling prey to successor of the Doris Day pro-virgin crown. EMILY is based on the William Bradford Huie novel, uneasily directed by Hiller. Nominated by the Academy for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Musical Score.

In the last episode, there's some kind of weird-looking Christmas thing on TV — all you see is Santa and a couple of stiff white reindeer flying through the air. Was that a real movie (or TV special), or was it made especially for the series? — PeachyFlickChick: It's for real, and it's a loopy little Mexican number called Santa Claus (1959), in which Santa must battle a second-tier demon named "Mr. Pitch" for the hearts and minds of the world's children.
