24: Live Another Day: Finale: Can Jack Stop Cheng Once and For All?

Kiefer Sutherland, Tzi Ma

The clock is about to stop ticking on another season of 24.

On Monday's Live Another Day finale (9/8c, Fox), Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) must find and apprehend Cheng Zhi (Tzi Ma) in order to prove that the United States wasn't responsible for bombing a Chinese ship and, in turn, prevent China from declaring war against the U.S. Of course, Jack might be a little bit distracted by the fact that Cheng also has Audrey (Kim Raver) trapped under the watchful eye a sniper who could take her out at any moment.

Why The Leftovers Isn't Lost: We're Not "Hoping to Find Out What Happened," Boss Says

Justin Theroux

Go ahead and compare HBO's new drama The Leftovers to LostJust go on and get it out of you system.

On the surface, the two shows undoubtedly share some DNA. Both were co-created by Damon Lindelof. Both explore the struggle between science and faith. And both feature a large cast of characters trying to move on from a life-altering event. But the thing that sets the two shows apart is crucial: While Lost was derided by many for the answers it provided to the show's once-celebrated head-scratchers, The Leftovers has absolutely zero interest in explaining its central mystery.

Will FX's New Family Drama Tyrant Rule?

Jennifer Finnigan, Adam Rayner

FX's latest drama Tyrant is a strange case.

The drama (premiering Tuesday at 10/9c) stars Adam Rayner as Bassam "Barry" Al-Fayeed, the second son of a dictator (Nasser Faris) who left his homeland — the fictional Middle Eastern country of Abuddin — and started his own family in California. But when Barry's wife Molly (Jennifer Finnigan) urges him to return to Abuddin after 20 years for his nephew's wedding, Barry is quickly sucked back into the family drama he tried to escape, most notably by his loose-cannon brother Jamal (Ashraf Barhom).

Although the show's attempt to lift the veil on life in the Middle East is the most compelling aspect of the project, it's also perhaps the most problematic when it comes to selling a commercial television show. But the show's creative team... read more

Californication's Final Season: Will Hank and Karen Get Their Happy Ending?

David Duchovny, Natascha McElhone

David Duchovny knows a thing or two about saying goodbye to a long-running TV show.

Because the actor previously walked away from The X-Files after nine seasons, Duchovny says he knew what to expect when the time came to say goodbye to Californication, which kicks off its final season Sunday at 9:30/8:30c on Showtime. But knowing what to expect didn't necessarily make it any easier to leave the show behind.

Mad Men: Where We Left Off and What's Ahead in the Final Season

Jon Hamm

The times are always a-changin' on Mad Men

But as the AMC drama kicks off the first half of its final season (Sunday, 10/9c), the show's focus will be on how much (or how little) the characters have grown during the near-decade viewers have been following them. "[This season] is about the consequences in life and if change is possible," creator Matthew Weiner says. "There is a real growth over this last season from what are the material concerns of your life to what are the immaterial concerns."

Last season focused on ad man Don Draper (Jon Hamm) repeating the mistakes of his past with even more serious consequences. Although Don seems to be truly committed to doing things differently in the early going of the new season, will that make a difference? In other words: Is true change possible, or is it the attempt to change that matters?

"That is the question," Weiner says... read more

Hulu's Deadbeat: Ghosts, Drugs and a Naughty Cat Deeley

Tyler Labine, Cat Deeley

Hulu's new original comedy series Deadbeat is both familiar and different at the same time.

Although the show features a typical TV conceit — a protagonist has one amazing skill, but the rest of his life is a disaster — when you add in ghosts and a large quantity of controlled substances, you get something you'd be hard pressed to ever find on your TV dial.

Bones

On Monday's Bones, Booth will be forced to question the honesty of a former brother in arms.

During the episode (8/7c, Fox), Booth( David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) investigate the murder of a woman that seems to indicate a believed-dead Afghani terrorist is still alive. As it turns out, the victim was actually a CIA source for Danny Beck (returning guest star Freddie Prinze Jr.), one of Booth's buddies from his Army special forces days. And although FBI-CIA communication is never particularly strong, Danny makes things worse by keeping very important information from Booth during the investigation.
