First Look: Jason Lee Rocks Raising Hope

Raising Hope

Memphis Beat's Jason Lee brings some '80s glam into the lives of the Chance family on the November 30 episode of Fox's Raising Hope. He plays musician Smokey Floyd, who headlines the local market's "Grocery-Palooza" concert, much to the thrill of Burt (Garret Dillahunt).

"Jason plays this sort of aging, falling-apart, former hair-band lead singer," says Martha Plimpton. "He comes to town to help rescue my husband, who's always wanted to play in a band."

Lee, who's reteaming with Hope creator Greg Garcia (who also created Lee's 2005—2009 sitcom My Name Is Earl), spent hours in the makeup chair... read more

Backstage at Dancing With the Stars: Bristol Steps Up

Bristol Palin, Mark Ballas

It's a shame the cameras weren't trained on the Dancing With the Stars judges for the beginning of Bristol Palin's paso doble last night. Because you would've seen all three of them, jaws dropped, astonished. "I never thought I would see this!" raved judge Bruno Tonioli after her performance. "The little lamb is turning into a tigress!"

The truth is, the girl who comes across as reserved and shy has a lot more bite than viewers realize... read more

Watercooler: Do You Love or Hate Gossip Girl's Juliet?

Katie Cassidy

Wow, is Juliet the Upper East Side's answer to The O.C.'s Oliver?

Not since the self-punching psychopath who obsessed over Marisa and heralded the beginning of the end for Fox's sudser has their been such vehemence surrounding an interloper among the pretty-young-things set. Fittingly, both Oliver and Juliet — played deliciously by Katie Cassidy, who so needs to headline the upcoming Charlie's Angels TV reboot — are the creations of showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Only this time, unlike Oliver, who just sucked, Juliet has become the character we both bitch about and kind of crush on.

And we're not the only ones feeling the love-hate... read more

Sci-fi Preview: Scoop on Smallville, Supernatural, Walking Dead and More!

Smallville

TV Guide Magazine's winter sci-fi preview goes on sale this week, and here's some of the scoop we rounded up:

• As Smallville races — faster than the proverbial speeding bullet — to its series finale in the spring, familiar faces continue to pop back into the world of Clark Kent (Tom Welling). Even dead people. Lionel Luthor (John Glover), pushed out of a building to his death by son Lex in Season 7, returns to the CW drama on December 3 for the first of four episodes. Then, on December 10, Michael Shanks makes his final appearance as Hawkman and Chloe (Allison Mack) returns, briefly. (She'll be in four more episodes before the series ends.) "It is a great cliff-hanger going into the spring run, because there are a couple of pretty big twists in that episode," says executive producer Brian Peterson. "Things don't go very well for our heroes. Just when Clark is on top of the world, things kind of crash down around him." ... read more

First Look: A 30 Rock Family Reunion

30 Rock

More than five decades after their one-night stand, Jack Donaghy's parents, Colleen (Elaine Stritch) and Milton Greene (Alan Alda), will reunite for the first time on the December 9 episode of NBC's 30 Rock.

"I first met Elaine probably 20 years ago but never worked with her before," says Alda. "I always knew the reunion would be interesting. We kid with each other a lot, and our characters have a common enemy in their son."

As for the "bizarre" story line, Alda says... read more

Fringe Exclusive: Across the Universes

Fringe

Who says you can't go home again? Now that Fringe's Olivia knows she's actually a captive in Walternate's wild world, it's time for our heroine to head back to the universe she belongs in.

"Olivia just needs to find someone she can trust," says Anna Torv, whose Agent Dunham has spent the bulk of Season 3 on the other side — being brainwashed and experimented on by Walternate — while her doppelgänger (aka Bolivia) was over here, working as a secret agent within Fringe Division by day and rocking an unsuspecting Peter's world by night. Thankfully, her time in the alt-verse has allowed Olivia to line up a few allies to aid in her escape... read more

The Good Wife's Archie Panjabi and Scott Porter are Hot on the Trail

Archie Panjabi

Archie Panjabi and Scott Porter are combustible super sleuths that have the chemistry of Moonlighting's pre-hookup Mattie and David and the ruthlessness of Bonnie and Clyde. When The Good Wife's two warring legal investigators at Gardner, Lockhart & Bond share the screen, the heat is almost criminal. Panjabi (Kalinda) and Porter (Blake) share what makes them sizzle. ...
