Jon & Kate Plus 8
Jon & Kate Plus 8's ratings tumbled during its return episodes, losing about 6 million viewers from its highly buzzed divorce announcement show in June.
Monday's first half hour averaged 4.0 million viewers, while the second episode grew to 4.2 million, according to TLC. The ratings dropped 61 percent from the June 22 episode, which featured the couple announcing their separation. That episode, which kicked off a six-week hiatus, was seen by 10.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched episode in the series' history.

Jon & Kate Plus 8
In the first new episodes since the Gosselins announced their plans to separate, things were back to normal on Jon & Kate Plus 8. Well, as normal as they ever will be again.
Though there were several references to the paparazzi and "what's transpired," these episodes carried a different tone than this season's first six and (thankfully) focused mostly on the kids, who have always been the most fun to watch.
The first episode saw Jon and Kate planning
Kate Gosselin says she has a "new attitude" to tackle single parenthood as Jon & Kate Plus 8 returns from a hiatus following the split from her husband.
"It is my new attitude that I am going to do things that I have never done before," Kate says in a clip from Monday's episode. "If I've never grilled before, I'm going to grill. If I've never camped before, I'm going to camp. It might take me a while, but I can figure it out, so that stemmed out of all of that. Like my new attitude is, 'I can do.'"

Jon & Kate Plus 8 returns Monday from hiatus with brand new, post-split episodes that were handled with "great care and thoughtfulness" in light of Jon and Kate Gosselin's divorce, according to TLC.
"Our approach to the circumstance was simple: to cover the family with great care and thoughtfulness as they dealt with a subject that is all too familiar to many American families today," Eileen O'Neill, TLC president and general manager, said at the Television Critics Association panel Thursday. "We will continue to capture this family's journey in a respectful and sensitive way."

Christian Audigier's rep says Jon Gosselin told her he was bringing his stylist to visit the Ed Hardy designer in St. Tropez, but instead showed up with Hailey Glassman, the 23-year-old daughter of Kate Gosselin's tummy-tuck surgeon.
"[Jon] had told me was he was going out there with his stylist," Audigier's rep, who declined to be named, told TVGuide.com. "We said we could accommodate her going out there as long as ...

"During this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family," the Gosselins said in a statement on TLC's website. "This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation. Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible. We appreciate the understanding, support and well wishes from so many."

Jon & Kate Plus 8 will go on hiatus until August following the Gosselins' separation announcement on Monday's episode, TLC said in a statement.
"TLC continues to support the Gosselin family and will work closely with them to determine the best way to continue to tell their story as they navigate through this difficult time," the statement read.
The network said Monday's upcoming episode will be a retrospective clip show on Jon and Kate's 10-year marriage. The next new episode will air Aug. 3.

Jon and Kate Gosselin
Hours after filing for divorce, Jon and Kate Gosselin announced the decision on their show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, saying they had decided to "separate" and were trying to do what was best for their children.
Interviewing separately, both parents used the word "separate" — not divorce. But late in the episode, on-screen text said they had filed Monday for the "dissolution" of their marriage.
Kate said she wasn't "fond" of the idea and was most worried about her children. "How they'll be another statistic," she said. "How they'll be the kids looking back and saying, 'My parents split up when I was fill-in-the-blank age.' That's primarily it, but for myself I don't really want to be alone. I don't want to do this alone, but it's required and I've got to do it."
"It's life, it's a roller coaster. Sometimes it goes off the track," Jon added. "I don't hate Kate, but y'know. I just have to do what's best for me and my kids."
