Once Upon a Time Scoop: Who Is the Stranger, Really?

Eion Bailey

The mystery of who the Stranger is will soon be revealed on Once Upon a Time!

August W. Booth (Eion Bailey), a writer only initially known as "the Stranger," made his way to Storybrooke earlier this season. His very presence is significant since the curse prevents people in the town from leaving, and apparently Emma (Jennifer Morrison) was the only outsider to come there before him.

His arrival — especially after he added pages to Henry's fairy tale book — has sparked many debates as to who he actually is. Theories range from suggesting that he's Rumplestiltskin's son or perhaps Henry's father to even his being an older version of Henry, which would be awkward since the Stranger is seemingly attracted to Emma, Henry's mom. To get the scoop on who the Stranger is, TVGuide.com turned to writer and consulting producer Jane Espenson, who penned this upcoming Sunday's episode "The Return" (8/7c, ABC) and also offers up some juicy teases for the Season 1 finale... read more

Fringe Scoop: 5 Things to Know About Friday's Trip to 2036

John Noble

All hail the Observers!

Fringe takes a trip into the future in Friday's episode (9/8c, Fox). Lest we forget, it's Episode 19 for the season, which traditionally means it will be chock-full of craziness (See: Last season's switch from live-action to animation in "Lysergic Acid Diethylmide").

Fringe: Meet Henry Ian Cusick's secret agent partner

In "Letters of Transit," the future is not all it's cracked up to be since the Observers have officially taken over planet Earth, wiping out most of the human population. Similar to last season's finale, which ventured 15 years into the present, Friday's hour-long thrill ride will offer up a chance to see what life could be like if humans were at the bottom of the food chain, so to speak. To get acquainted with this version of the future, here are five things to expect: read more

Scandal Scoop: Will Quinn's Relationship with Gideon Get Her Into Trouble?

Katie Lowes, Scandal

Scandal's resident new girl may seem innocent enough, but Quinn Perkins is about to go down an ethically questionable path when she gets too close to snooping reporter Gideon.

In his quest to break what he hopes to be a career-boosting story, Gideon (Brendan Hines) digs into the catalyst for why Amanda Tanner (Liza Weil) tried to kill herself shortly after quitting her job at the White House (apparently she had an affair with the president). Professional fixer Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) takes on her case, knowing personally what a charmer President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) can be. But when Gideon starts getting too close to the story, Pope tasks Quinn (Katie Lowes) to find out what he knows — and that can only lead to bad places.

What else can you tell me about Patrick Jane's new love interest on The Mentalist? — Christine
ADAM:
Creator Bruno Heller wants to be clear about one thing: Loralei (Emmanuelle Chriqui) is no ordinary cocktail waitress, and as such viewers should take this relationship seriously. "It's certainly not a fling and it's not a spur-of-the-moment booty call or anything like that," Heller says. "She comes into Jane's life at a very, very low ebb. He's at a moment when he really needs a helping hand and a little ray of light, and she provides that."

What Went Wrong with The CW's Ringer?

Sarah Michelle Gellar

On Tuesday, Ringer's freshman season comes to a close — and it's anyone's guess as to whether or not it will be renewed for a second season.

Why? Ratings haven't been great. Ringer hit a series low two weeks ago with only 1.05 million tuning in. On the surface, it's hard to explain why: Not only was Sarah Michelle Gellar, best known for her Buffy the Vampire Slayer days, returning to TV, but viewers were getting a double dose of her as estranged twins, one of whom faked her own death. There was also whole lot of eye candy (see: Ioan Gruffudd, Kristopher Polaha and Lost alum Nestor Carbonell), and a murder mystery with as many twists and turns as there are Buffy die-hards.

32 bubble shows — which will survive?

So why didn't Ringer become the new guilty pleasure hit? TVGuide.com turned to series executive producer Pam Veasey (CSI: NY) to get her take on why the neo-noir thriller never clicked with a big audience. Plus: Veasey discusses how Season 2 would be different should the series get renewed, and how Siobhan and Bridget have become the "will-they-or-won't-they" duo of the show. (Oh, get your mind out of the gutter!) read more
