What would appear to be one prerequisite for scoring a membership in the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences? Working with Judd Apatow.
Frequent Apatow collaborators Seth Rogen, James Franco, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd and Jane Lynch are among the 134 industry names invited to join the elite Hollywood club this year. As members, they would enjoy voting privileges for all future Oscar ceremonies. (Apatow himself was invited to join AMPAS last year.)

The Hangover, Best Picture nominee? Perhaps.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday it is doubling the number of Best Picture nominees — from five to 10.
"Having 10 Best Picture nominees is going allow Academy voters to recognize and include some of the fantastic movies that often show up in the other Oscar categories but have been squeezed out of the race for the top prize," AMPAS President Sid Ganis said in a press conference. "I can't wait ...

Hugh Jackman, The 81st Academy Awards
It's pretty simple really. You must drink:
1. If host Hugh Jackman makes a joke that references the abysmal box office of Australia (Penalty: Shotgun a Foster's oil can.)
2. When a winner displays false modesty ("Wow!", "I didn't think I'd win," "I'm so surprised," "I didn't prepare a speech," etc.). Double penalty if it's Kate Winslet. (Penalty: He drinks a whiskey drink/he drinks a vodka drink/he drinks a lager drink/he drinks a cider drink)

Slumdog Millionaire
The child stars of Slumdog Millionaire didn't make it to Los Angeles for the SAG Awards, where the cast won best ensemble, but the young actors will definitely be at the Kodak Theater Sunday for the Oscars.
"Everybody is really excited about it," said James Finn of Fox Searchlight Pictures. "It's nice the whole gang will be together."
All nine actors who portrayed the three main characters in three stages of their lives will be at the ceremony, Finn said. Slumdog, set in the slums of Mumbai, is the heavy favorite to take best picture.

Jason slashed his way to a box office record this weekend, but those cerebral and emotionally rich films vying for Oscars look as limp as one of his victims.
This year's best picture nominees have grossed $273.2 million at the domestic box office, down significantly from the $316.6 million raked in by last year's class, Variety reports.
What's worse, if you remove runaway hit Slumdog Millionaire's $88 million and the $122.5 million brought in by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the remaining films are among the lowest-grossing nominees in years. So far...
