The Day the Earth Stood Still

Twentieth Century Fox's remake of the 1951 sci-fi classic The Day the Earth Stood Still will be the widest release ever — including a journey into outer space.

Fox and a privately owned celestial communications network will use equipment at Cape Canaveral, Fla., to begin beaming Earth Stood Still to Alpha Centauri, the nearest star system to Earth, reports Variety.

This is the first attempt by a Hollywood studio to beam up a movie into space (so... many... Star Trek jokes).
