Glee Episode Recap: "Grilled Cheesus"

Glee

In this week's episode, Glee takes on religion after Finn sees the face of Jesus in his grilled-cheese sandwich. Meanwhile, New Directions offers their support to Kurt via song — and prayer — when his father has a heart attack.

The episode opens on newly reinstated football jock Finn making a sandwich on his George Foreman grill. However, he's reluctant to eat the half that has Jesus on it. Yup, that's right, the face of Jesus appears on his grilled cheese. Finn decides to pray to the Grilled Cheesus, asking Him to help the team win their football game, and in exchange he'll honor "his cheesy lord" at glee club that week.

Elsewhere, Kurt brings his father a healthy breakfast at his garage. (Foreshadowing!) Burt insists that Kurt join him for a Friday-night dinners with Carol and Finn, but he resists. The conversation ends with Burt telling Kurt he's very disappointed in him.

Everyone at glee is confused when Finn says he has an announcement to make. Though Puck thinks maybe he's... read more

Mega Buzz: A Grey's Competition, A Glee Return and Love on CSI: Miami

Sara Ramirez (Grey's Anatomy), Jessalyn Gilsig (Glee), David Caruso (CSI: Miami)

Every week, senior editors Mickey O'Connor and Adam Bryant satisfy your need for TV scoop. Please send all questions to mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

Any scoop about Callie and Arizona on Grey's Anatomy? — Marija
ADAM: When the Chief offers $1 million to the department of the hospital that best demonstrates need, Callie's and Arizona's feelings for one another do not put a damper on their competitive spirit. "Callie turns into a very competitive person and actually starts running around trying to intimidate everyone," Sara Ramirez says. "[She] does this hilarious passive-aggressive thing that was fun to play. She's trying to psych everybody out."

I was surprised to see Terri on Glee. She's been MIA for so long ... yet she's a series regular (or at least recurring)?  Why is Mike Chang not a regular?  He appears on the show more than Terri does! Christine
MICKEY:
These designations are complicated and take into account the plan for the entire season. So while Mike's fling with Tina is at the fore now, I'm hearing that Terri will play a much larger role in later episodes. As she made clear in the Britney episode, she's not giving up on Will, and her presence will be similarly menacing when she returns... read more

Glee Plans Episode Responding to Gay Teen’s Suicide

Are You There, God? Glee's Twist on Faith

Glee

When Ryan Murphy was an altar boy, he was obsessed with the Shroud of Turin, a centuries-old piece of cloth said to bear the face of Jesus. On Tuesday's episode of Glee, Finn will see God in his grilled cheese sandwich. (He proceeds to ask the "Cheesy Lord" to grant him three wishes.)

Having the glee club wrestle with matters of faith could be controversial. Outside of 7th Heaven and similarly earnest shows, religion is a rare presence in primetime television. Could Glee, with its brand of biting, often politically incorrect humor, be sensitive enough to do justice to the hot-button topic?

On the surface, Finn's divine discovery is just another way to mock the sweetly dim character. But in the same episode, Glee delves deeper into serious questions of faith when a tragedy prompts Kurt to reveal that he doesn't believe in God... read more

Tim Roth, Lie to Me

When Lie to Me returns for its third season, Cal Lightman and his team of lie-detecting scientists will be freed from their ties to Ben Reynolds and the FBI.

Lie to Me: End of the line for Lightman and Reynolds

"We are leaning into Lightman's general conflict with power and authority," executive producer Alexander Cary tells TVGuide.com. "In the first episode of Season 3, he goes too far. He sails extremely close to the wind... read more
