Spartacus Vengeance Finale: Things That Made Us Go "Ew!" and the Shocking Death!

Liam McIntyre

[Spoilers! The following contains information about the Spartacus finale, including major characters who die. You've been warned.]

Forget Ilithyia and Glaber. In Friday's bloody Spartacus: Vengeance finale, we met the biggest monster of them all: Lucretia. The bloodthirsty Roman went off the deep end in more ways than one, and only an oracle of the gods could have foreseen her insane actions.

But more on that later.

Spartacus Episode 9: Things That Made Us Go "Ew!"

Spartacus: Vengeance, Manu Bennett

Friday's Spartacus: Vengeance episode is titled "Monsters," and there's no word more appropriate to describe the Romans who bring atrocities upon their enemies... and each other.

In the episode, Ilithyia has returned from being Gannicus-napped and now feels fiercely protective of her unborn child. Lucretia offers Seppia a knife so she can wreak vengeance on Glaber for killing her brother Seppius. But as she strikes, Ilithyia takes the knife and stabs her instead, thus saving her ungrateful hubby's life. We did not see that one coming!

Spartacus Episode 8: Things That Made Us Go "Ew!"

Nick E. Tarabay

On Friday's Spartacus: Vengeance, we see the fugitives and the Romans actually interact more than usual, which means more talking and a (little) less violence. That's fine: We're still reeling from last week's slice-fest and bracing ourselves for the finale bloodbath coming in two weeks.

In Friday's episode, Gannicus takes his hostage Ilithyia to the rebels' camp. His thinking: If Spartacus kills Glaber's wife, then they'll be even for Glaber killing Sura. Then there would be no more need for vengeance! Ah, Gannicus, if only it worked that way. Ilithyia reveals that Spartacus is her baby-daddy — remember all those flashbacks to her having sex with the masked slave? — and thus he's convinced to keep her alive... read more

Spartacus Episode 7: Things That Made Us Go "Ew!"

Craig Parker, Viva Bianca, Hannah Mangan Lawrence

On Friday's Spartacus: Vengeance, we find more reasons to really hate Glaber, which means that his eventual comeuppance will be sweet... and bloody!

The praetor has begun a reign of terror that mandates that any person who's thought to be a Spartacus sympathizer will be crucified, literally. He later invites Gannicus to help lead his men to victory against the rebels. Miserable with their lives under Glaber's rule, Lucretia thinks up a scheme to get Ilithiya out of town and then makes her own offer to Gannicus: She'll arrange it so certain guards are called away, making it easy for him to kill Glaber, which will end the crucifixions. Being Gannicus, he instead slaughters the caravan bringing Ilithiya to Rome and leaves behind his rudis, a rejection of the so-called freedom they had granted him.

Spartacus, Episode 6: Things That Made Us Go "Ew!"

Craig Parker, Spartaucs Vengeance

On Friday's Spartacus: Vengeance, we see that Glaber has fully embraced his inner depraved villain, and this does not bode well for the rebels.

After their recent success, Spartacus and his men want to take down Rome's giant arena next. In order to do so, however, they start training to use a bow and arrow and then plan to visit Neapolis so they can recruit the strong slaves coming into port. Meanwhile, poor Naevia is traumatized after all the rape, so her reunion with Crixus is bittersweet since they can't consummate their love. Also, Spartacus isn't able to sway Gannicus to their cause, and before he leaves them, he's accused of stealing their map to Neapolis. Although an epic fight between the two men ensues, it turns out that the blonde slave girl Chadara -- whom Mira shoots with her newfound archery skills -- is the culprit and was trying to sneak off with the map.

Spartacus, Episode 5: Things That Made Us Go "Ew!"

Dustin Clare

On Friday's Spartacus: Vengeance, Gannicus is back! But what havoc does the former Champion of Capua wreak in his old gladiator stomping grounds? Don't look at Gannicus. Turns out that it's Spartacus' men who are behind the biggest, baddest arena bloodbath to date.

Spartacus and Co. find new digs at an abandoned structure and learn that Rhaskos, Crixus and Oenomaus are to be executed. Spartacus can't resist trying to save them, even if this means sneaking into an arena full of Romans who have been hunting him. Meanwhile, Gannicus has returned to Capua and in his mind, acting as Oenomaus' executioner will give the former Doctore the glorious, noble gladiator's death he deserves. That will totally make up for sleeping with his wife before she died! Not an awkward reunion at all.
