Miss California Loses Her Crown

Carrie Prejean

Carrie Prejean's fight over same-sex marriage and risqué modeling photos weren't enough to cost her the Miss California crown, but the pageant says she's been stripped of it for the ultimate beauty queen crime: not showing up.

"The Miss California USA Organization, in conjunction with the Miss Universe Organization and with the blessing of its owner, Mr. Donald J. Trump, announced today the termination of Carrie Prejean as Miss California USA 2009, citing continued breach of contract issues," the Miss California USA Organization said in a statement.

Miss Malibu Tami Farrell, who was the first runner-up, is now Miss California.

Prejean, who Trump spared after Perez Hilton and other bloggers posted the risqué photos, removed her Wednesday because of her "unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization," Keith Lewis, the pageant's executive director, said in a statement. read more

Mad Men Returns with Extra-Long Episodes

Jon Hamm

Viewers will get even more Mad Men when Don Draper & Co resume business at Sterling Cooper this summer. Or, at least they won't get any less.

AMC said Wednesday that new episodes of the Emmy-winning drama — which are (finally!) set to begin airing on Sunday, Aug.16 at 10 pm — will run a few minutes into the 11 o'clock hour. However, the additional minutes are actually to accommodate extra advertising — and ensure that not a moment of drama is lost.

The news that two extra minutes of advertising would be added caused panic among fans afraid of giving up a few scenes of their favorite show. Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner assured fans in an online chat hosted by the Los Angeles Times last week that he ... read more

Top Chef Masters Host Previews Twists and Dysfunction

Top Chef Masters

Bravo brings its "A" game to the kitchen as 24 world-renowned chefs cook up a storm — in some truly bizarre situations — on Top Chef Masters (premiering Wednesday, June 10 at 10 pm/ET).

But why would these distinguished chefs mess with their already meritorious reputations? "It takes some major guts [to be on this show] because they're all well established and don't need to raise their profile in any way, shape or form," says host Kelly Choi, the new Padma. "So they're kind of already messing with something that's pristine, and they can only ... read more
