This is something worth singing about: The winner of Fox's upcoming singing competition series The X Factor will receive a hefty $5 million grand prize — the largest in television history — the network announced Monday.

"We are going to put our money where our mouths are with the $5 million recording contract," executive producer Simon Cowell said in a statement. "I'm doing this show in America because I genuinely believe we can find a superstar."

Who Had the Better Halftime Show: Glee or The Black Eyed Peas?

Glee

Is it fair to compare The Black Eye Peas' (perhaps Tron-inspired) halftime extravaganza to that of Glee's relatively modest McKinley High zombie apocalypse? Of course!

The brain-craving Glee kids win!  Sorry, Will.I.Am. Even with all the neon and the extras — including assists from Slash and Usher -- Glee brought it big time with a mash-up of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Heads Will Roll." Also, I'm biased.

How I Met Your Mother's Josh Radnor on Ted's New Girlfriend and the Show's Future

Josh Radnor

Things are getting heavy on How I Met Your Mother.

The comedy best known for Robin Sparkles, Slapsgiving, and lots and lots of suits has received notice recently for its drama — namely, the surprise death of Marshall's father. Marshall's sudden brush with mortality has already inspired Barney to search for his real father. But how will it affect his best friend, Ted?

John Lithgow to play Barney's father on How I Met Your Mother

"He gets in a new relationship and that encourages his own version of that soul-searching," Josh Radnor told TVGuide.com. "I'm not prepared to say on the record if it's with Zoe or not, but perhaps it will be. Perhaps it... read more

Christina Aguilera Fumbles the Lyrics, Black Eyed Peas Light Up Super Bowl XLV

Christina Aguilera

One of the biggest fumbles came before Super Bowl XLV — from Christina Aguilera's performance of the national anthem.

The Grammy winner, 30, botched the lyrics, mistakenly singing "what so proudly we watched, at the twilight's last reaming" instead of "o'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming." The flub immediately... read more

Super Bowl XLV: Darth Vader, Eminem and the Perils of "Reply All"

Volkswagon

Darth Vader used "The Force" to power Volkswagen. A claymation version of Eminem shilled Chrysler and Lipton Brisk Iced Tea. And a poor employee unnecessarily put his tires to the test because of "reply all."

On the field, the Green Bay Packers bested the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV, 31-25.

Off the field, game day was dominated by celebrities ranging from 16-year-old pop singer Justin Bieber to a confused Ozzy Osbourne, who teamed up for a Best Buy spot. "What's a Bieber?" Ozzy asked wife Sharon.

Eminem appeared in two very different Super Bowl commercials — a comedic spot for Lipton Brisk Iced Tea, and a more serious one for Chrysler, dedicated to the company and rapper's hometown of Detroit. The commercial helped boost... read more
