Hollywood Foreign Press Association: Payola Lawsuit Is Without Merit

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association says a lawsuit filed by a former Golden Globes publicist alleging "payola schemes" is "completely without merit."

"This is no more than the case of a disgruntled former consulting firm, whose contract was not renewed, attempting to take advantage once again of the Globes' international stage for their own gain," the HFPA said in a statement.

The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg will host the final Saturday Night Live of January, NBC announced Friday.

Eisenberg, who's nominated for a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award for his portrayal of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, will host the Jan. 29 episode. He will be joined by musical guest Nicki Minaj.

CBS President Nina Tassler said she is definitely worried about Two and a Half Men star Charlie Sheen.

The personal life of Sheen, currently television's highest-paid actor, has long been a source of controversy, and in recent months he's appeared in the tabloid headlines almost non-stop. Trish Keenan, the lead singer of the British electronic pop music group Broadcast, has died, according to her record label. She was 42.
