The Good Wife
To hype the Season 3 return of its Emmy-nominated drama The Good Wife, CBS is pulling out all the stops. First, there was that sexy poster of Alicia, breathless and in negligee. Then, on Sunday, Sept. 4, the network will air The Good Wife: A New Beginning (9:30/8:30c), a catch-up special aimed at bringing new viewers up to speed in under a half-hour.
If all that wasn't enough, on Friday CBS released its first-ever digital magazine for the most ardent Good Wife fan. The magazine serves as a companion to Sunday's special with several bonuses, including a sneak peek at the new season, never-before-seen pictures of and quotes from the cast, and additional catch-up footage highlighting key story arcs for the casual viewer.

After hemorrhaging viewership in its third season, TNT's HawthoRNe has been taken off of life support.
The network announced Friday that it will not renew the medical drama, starring Jada Pinkett Smith as the head nurse at a Richmond, Va., hospital. The third season, which ended on Aug. 16 with a cliff-hanger, drew 2.86 million viewers. Last season, the series averaged 3.6 million — low even then for a TNT drama.
