MasterChef's Joe: Cooking Isn't Child's Play

MasterChef

Hello MasterChef fans!

Monday night the remaining eight amateur cooks faced another stressful team challenge -- cooking for 200 hungry kids! Anyone who is a parent knows how frighteningly hard kids are to please. In fact, if you are a mother or father of three, that usually means you'll end up making three different things for dinner! This challenge really boiled down to knowing your customer. The pressure to win them over was intense, but in the end, the red team emerged victorious.

Initially we judges had serious concerns for the red team. Unable to wrap our heads around the idea of a fried chicken nugget burger, we feared they were making a huge mistake. It seemed a bit gimmicky and conjured up thoughts of deep fried Twinkies or Snickers bars -- or worse -- school cafeteria food! But the red team had strength in their ability to be flexible and take our constructive criticism seriously.  Recognizing that their initial idea wasn't going to cut it, they had the good sense to make a change for the better and worked together as a unit to get it done. Christine didn't seem to be a terribly assertive or decisive leader, but at least she knew when to heed the advice of teammates, which unfortunately, is more than I can say for the blue team.

Prime Suspect Reboot Finds Its Own Footing, Pulls Back on Sexism

Maria Bello, Prime Suspect

It's hard to imagine that a female TV detective in 2011 would face sexism — Mariska Hargitay's Det. Benson seems to be doing just fine on SVU — but NBC's reboot of the BBC's Prime Suspect will still show Maria Bello's Det. Jane Timoney taking some harsh criticism from her male peers.

NBC boss: SVU's Hargitay will remain in "every episode," Voice returns post-Super Bowl

The original series, which ran sporadically between 1991 and 2006, starred Oscar winner Helen Mirren as a female detective thriving in the world of male policemen in England. Producers say the sexism won't come off as strongly in the reboot. "Obviously it's... read more

Exclusive Shameless Deleted Scene: What If Frank Died?

William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum, Shameless

We've seen Shameless' Frank (William H. Macy) fake his own death, but how would the Gallagher clan react if he actually kicked the bucket?

That answer may be found in the exclusive video below. In a deleted scene from the Season 1 episode "Frank the Plank," Debbie (Emma Kenney), the youngest Gallagher gal, becomes fearful when the police find a body matching Frank's description. (As you'll recall, Frank was actually in Canada after one of his benders.) So what's the tell-tale sign that this stiff is not Frank? Watch the video below to find out! read more

A Bigger Sing-Off This Fall: More Episodes! More Groups! More Musical Genres!

The Sing-Off

A new judge isn't the only big change coming to The Sing-Off this fall.

With NBC's decision to make the third season of The Sing-Off a weekly competition, kicking off Sept. 19 at 8/7c, it meant the show would more than double the number of episodes it produced. As a result, 16 groups will now compete (up from 10 last season) over 11 episodes (up from the five that aired over the course of one week).

Sara Bareilles is the new judge on NBC's The Sing-Off

Speaking to reporters Monday during NBC's fall TV previews, series executive producer Joel Gallen said groups will also be asked to sing in a number of new genres including read more

Up All Night's Maya Rudolph on Playing an Oprah Wannabe

Maya Rudolph

The Christina Applegate-Will Arnett sitcom Up All Night hasn't even premiered yet, but already co-star Maya Rudolph has gotten a promotion.

Speaking to reporters at the fall TV previews Monday, NBC Entertainment Chief Robert Greenblatt announced that portions of the pilot would be reshot to recast Rudolph's character, Ava, as a daytime talk-show host. "We decided to change the workplace altogether to give Maya a better platform to do her thing," Greenblatt said. Applegate will play a producer on Ava's show. (In the original pilot, Applegate and Rudolph played partners in a PR firm.)

Downton Abbey 2 Spoilers: Mary and Matthew's Relationship, a New Housemaid and the Great War

Dan Stevens and Michelle Dockery

When Downton Abbey returns for its second season on Jan. 8, 2012 on PBS, the action will pick up two years after that fated garden party in which the Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) announced that England was at war with Germany.

During Sunday's preview of the hit British series, executive producer Gareth Neame confirmed that the action in the seven-episode second season will take place over two years, just like the first season. "The new series is a similar sort of span," he says. "We start in 1916. The war will come to a conclusion within this series, and the final episodes is the time after the war."

Keck's Exclusives: Desperate Housewives' Felicity Huffman on Lynette's Transformation

Felicity Huffman, Desperate Housewives

When last seen on Desperate Housewives, Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) was in the midst of another horrible night, though this was really worse than most. She and estranged husband Tom (Doug Savant) were putting on a happy front at a neighborhood dinner party that culminated with the Wisteria Lane ladies hiding a dead body in a trunk.

Felicity tells me that the September 25 season premiere will look a lot like the memorable 9 to 5 sequence when Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton comically conspired to hide a corpse, as Lynette, Susan (Teri Hatcher), Bree (Marcia Cross) and Gaby (Eva Longoria) come together to cover up Carlos' murder of Gaby's sexually abusive stepfather.

"The whole first episode is about them being accomplices in this murder and actually burying this body," previews Felicity... read more

VIDEO: Lady Gaga Says Tim Gunn is "Being a Bully" Regarding Hillary Clinton

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga co-hosted Monday's episode of The View and the topic of Tim Gunn's recent comments regarding Hillary Rodham Clinton's wardrobe choices came up. (Gunn had said last week on Lopez Tonight, "I think [Clinton is] confused about her gender. All these big, baggy, tailored men's suits? No, I'm really serious.") Gaga's response?  "He's being a bully. I think Hillary Clinton has more important things to worry about than her hemline." Since Gaga has eclipsed Gunn's fashion relevance for a while now, we're more inclined to defer to her...
