NBC Boss: SNL-Pepsi Deal Is a Taste of Things to Come

MacGruber/Pepsi Ad

NBC entertainment co-chair Ben Silverman is pursuing other partnerships like the one that turned a recurring Saturday Night Live character into a Super Bowl pitchman for Pepsi.

Of detractors who claim the Peacock blurred the line between programming and advertising with such a deal, Silverman contends, "Those are the same people who will be out of business" if they do not adapt during this difficult economy. He also tells TVGuide.com that NBC is in talks with other potential partners about "finding [similar] ways to use our entertainment vehicles to help their brands."

The spots, which premiered on the eve of the Super Bowl (during SNL commercial breaks), show Will Forte's MacGruber ... read more

Marlene Forte's Shaking Up the House of Payne

Marlene Forte

Marlene Forte says she feels like "Alice in Wonderland" after getting some time in the spotlight on Tyler Perry's House of Payne.

Forte's made a name for herself as a talented character actor, playing cops and victims on shows like Lost, CSI, Cold Case and ER. Now, she's changing to comedy by entering the Atlanta-based world of the Payne family. Forte's also excited about representing the Latino community with the introduction of the Hernandez clan to the TBS sitcom.

"I've played lots of moms in my career, but they're always weepy or crying over their dead husbands... but, [my character is] witty, smart and nothing really rattles her. She's the boss. Really just like every Latin wife."

Forte plays Rosie Hernandez, a police officer's wife and mother of three who befriends the show's matriarch, Ella Payne (Cassi Davis). Because both of their kids are older or have already left the nest, Rosie and Ella will get into all kinds of trouble together... read more

Duff vs. Dunaway may turn out to be more exciting than the Bonnie and Clyde remake.

Former Disney queen Hilary Duff is set to tackle Faye Dunaway's legendary role of Bonnie Parker, one-half of crime's notorious duo, in The Story of Bonnie and Clyde — news that did not sit well with Dunaway. "Couldn't they at least cast a real actress?" Dunaway reportedly scoffed last week.

Mega Buzz on House, Heroes, 24, 90210 & More

Olivia Wilde (House), Ali Larter (Heroes), Kiefer Sutherland (24

Senior editors Matt Mitovich, Mickey O'Connor and Tim Molloy answer your questions. Drop us a line at mega_scoop@tvguide.com.

House is my favorite show, but I am getting sick of this season's Thirteen-centered storylines. When will we see more of Wilson, who has been woefully underused? —  Gillian
MATT: Personally, I'm (Olivia) Wilde for Thirteen, partly because her portrayer gives great quotes on the red carpet (and, ahem, is definitely not chilly). But I hear your woe, and can promise that Robert Sean Leonard has meaty stuff coming up later this season, only some of which has to do with Wilson's long-lost brother. Also, for what it's worth (and as hinted at this week), we'll also be spending a bit more time with Peter Jacobson's Taub.

I hear that either Hayden Panettiere or Ali Larter wants to be released from her Heroes contract. Is this true? — Brian
TIM:
One of the key Heroes dies at the end of this volume, so that would be an easy out. But Larter ... read more
