Laura Dern and screenwriter Mike White are teaming up to create a comedy pilot for HBO.
The project, tentatively titled Enlightened, will star Dern as a self-destructive woman whose spiritual awakening leads her to try to lead an enlightened life, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dern (Jurassic Park) recently won a Golden Globe for her role in the HBO film Recount.
Production is scheduled to begin in December.
TV Guide Network will air a special two-hour live edition of Hollywood 411 for the funeral of Michael Jackson on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 9 p.m. (6 p.m. Pacific).

The service, which will take place more than two months after Jackson's death at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, Calif., will be paid for by his own estate.
Jackson's body has been temporarily stored at Forest Lawn for the past month. His death has been officially ruled a homicide, caused by acute propofol intoxication.
AnnaLynne McCord, Melanie Brown
Welcome to Hooker-Gate 2009!
90210's AnnaLynne McCord and former Spice Girl Melanie Brown are getting in touch with their inner streetwalkers in these form-fitting outfits.
McCord (left) might be going for biker chic with all that black leather, but she clearly never got the memo that less is more. A black corset over a white cami and a black push-up bra? It's almost as if she was asking for the fashion bloggers to come up with a snappy new synonym for "whore." In McCord's defense, she does play a slut on TV.
On the other hand, Brown (right) is not wearing too many clothes; they're just too tight. Yes, she's stick-thin, but that doesn't excuse shiny leggings and pink and silver sequins.

Good news! A listing for a fabulous apartment at Melrose Place has opened up. The last tenant vacated the property after doing a (literal) dead-man's float in the complex's pool. The neighbors are great, and most probably didn't have anything to do with said tenant's death, as far as we know...

Rick Fox has been added to the cast of Melrose Place, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
Fox will play the owner of a restaurant at which both Auggie (Colin Egglesfield) and Violet (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) work. The casting was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter. The former Los Angeles Laker-turned-actor has previously appeared on One Tree Hill, Ugly Betty (with ex-wife Vanessa Williams) and The Game.

While the jury's still out on whether Chris Brown's Larry King Live interview Wednesday helped repair his image, I think we can all agree that his coordinating baby-blue bowtie and sweater are fashion crimes.
In fact, Brown's matchy-matchy prepster look has created such a ruckus that #chrisbrownsbowtie has been one of the top-trending topics on Twitter since the interview.
We get that he's trying to win back some love with the clean-cut look, but the Pee-Wee Herman thing is a bit much.
