It's true that the producers of the Emmys have decided to compress this year's telecast using time-shifting. But they promise it's all in service of creating a more entertaining show.
Faced with the prospect of having to present 28 awards in only two hours, nine minutes and 35 seconds, Don Mischer, executive producer of the telecast, outlined what the time-shifting will entail.
Medium will pay tribute this season to Night of the Living Dead — which couldn't be more appropriate, given the show's recent history.

"I'd been told unofficially we were getting picked up," Arquette said at Monday's Television Critics Association fall-TV tour. "I was about to buy a house, then I got told we got dropped. I was unemployed. And then I got a job. It was like, you're hired, you're fired. You're hired!"

"I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it's my daughter," O'Neal said. "It's so sick."
