Piers Morgan says his new job replacing Larry King on CNN is akin to "following Frank Sinatra in Vegas." But the 45-year-old print journalist, America's Got Talent judge and British-TV talk-show fixture isn't hesitant to try to revive CNN's prime-time ratings with the January 17 premiere of Piers Morgan Tonight (9/8c). He gives TV Guide Magazine a preview of his plans.
TV Guide Magazine: If America's got talent, why did CNN have to hire a Brit to replace Larry King?
Morgan: For the same reason that NBC put a Brit on America's Got Talent. There's been a growing appetite for us probably since Simon Cowell arrived on the scene. There is kind of a belief amongst Americans, true or not, that the Brits are perhaps a little more blunt and more to the point, and we have a quirky humor that's grown in popularity in America. In Britain, I've done ...

Police want Lindsay Lohan charged with battery after determining that she violated her probation in her altercation with a Betty Ford Center staffer last month.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department said in a news release that Lohan "violated several aspects of her probation, including the battery" during the Dec. 12 incident and will submit its investigation to the District Attorney's office later this week.

OK folks, Brad Womack is back and from what we saw in last night's Bachelor season premiere, the muscled do-over dude seems to have gotten himself some much-needed head shrinkage. From the multiple "what I have learned" voice-overs about his botched season — as well as his mea culpa to shunned exes Deanna and Jenni — the Georgia-born Texas resident made a good early impression of a man healed by time and therapy...

Embrace your inner lizard. V is back for a second season tonight on ABC (9/8c), with a red tint in the air and an ominous shower of red rain (the episode's title) falling on the embattled earthlings, although on my screener, everything looked orange. The color of cheese.

They say that God works in mysterious ways. As proof, look no further than a recent story in the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, which praised Homer Simpson for being a "true" Catholic. The publication cites The Simpsons for using "Christian faith, religion and questions about God" as recurring themes.
At first glance, it seems odd that a child-choking, beer-swilling glutton who has embodied all seven deadly sins could be considered a shining example of a man of faith. Then again, as the Vatican paper explained, the Simpson family "recites prayers before meals and, in their own way, believes in the life thereafter." Even Melissa Henson, director of communications for the Parents Television Council, says, "The Simpsons is one of the more balanced treatments of faith-based characters that you'll see...
The Bachelor's Brad Womack may not act like he's shy about being shirtless, but the 38-year-old Texan blushed as soon as we brought up him being in the buff throughout the season.
"Thanks for bringing that up. I'm probably beet-red," he said. "I'm probably the cheesiest guy out there."
