Exclusive First Look: Nathan Fillion Lights It Up as Green Lantern

Green Lantern, Nathan Fillion

He's enjoying mainstream success as the star of ABC's Castle, but Nathan Fillion is still a fanboy favorite — and a fanboy himself. So the Firefly and Dr. Horrible alum totally geeked out when he was offered the voice role of DC Comics superhero Green Lantern in the DVD movie Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, due June 7 from Warner Bros. Animation. Emerald Knights is a series of vignettes about the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic police force. Fillion plays Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Earth's space sector, who mentors Arisia, a new recruit played by Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss... read more

Keck's Exclusives: Marc Cherry Calls New Show "Glee for Conservative Republicans"

With Desperate Housewives expected to conclude its run in 2013 (pending contract renewals with the four leading ladies), series creator Marc Cherry is already plotting out the next neighborhood he'll terrorize. In an exclusive interview with TV Guide Magazine, the writer/producer describes his new one-hour ABC pilot Hallelujah (which he's producing with partner Sabrina Wind under their Wind Productions) as ... read more

Cheers & Jeers: And This Year's Best Super Bowl Commercial Is…

NFL American Families Ad

Cheers to the NFL for scoring the biggest victory on Super Sunday — and no, we're not just talking about the Packers' thrilling 31-25 triumph over the Steelers.

There was plenty of star power on display in this year's Super Bowl ads: Oscar winners (Cuba Gooding Jr. and Timothy Hutton for Groupon.com, Adrien Brody coolly crooning for Stella Artois), overexposed pseudocelebs (Kim Kardashian's skanky Skechers spot, GoDaddy.com's tired trio of Jillian Michaels, Danica Patrick and... Joan Rivers?), rappers (P. Diddy predictably shilling for Mercedes Benz, a pair of Eminems — Claymated for Brisk and in the flesh for Chrysler's moving ode to Detroit) and truly odd couples ... read more

Watercooler: Glee Fumbles Its Super Bowl Shot

Dianna Agron

Wow, what a blowout. The long-hiatused Glee returned last night in the coveted, cushy, hype-addled post-Super Bowl spot and sadly it was, with that zombies-gone-gridiron business, pretty much undead on arrival. Not that there weren't great moments (Sue's two-part meltdown to "O Fortuna," the sudden use of Dianna Agron's Quinn), it's just that the show didn't really bring its A-game.

Built around what should have been a perfect fit for Super Bowl Sunday — McKinley's championship football game — the hour quickly went out of bounds by ... read more

Roush Review: Chicago Code's Mean Streets

Chicago Code

What a week for fans of crime dramas that try to raise the bar. Two winners premiering this week are set in USA's midsection — one rural, one urban (which I'm thinking you might have heard about on Super Bowl Sunday) — and they're so good it makes you wonder why Law & Order never took its act to the heartland.

We'll be discussing the second season of FX's spectacularly entertaining Justified (returns Wednesday, 10/9c) later this week. Inspired by an Elmore Leonard character, this Kentucky-fried caper sneaks up on you, its laid-back attitude punctuated by shocks of grisly mayhem.

By contrast, Fox's muscular new The Chicago Code — from The Shield's Shawn Ryan — grabs you by the collar as it plunges headlong into a treacherous labyrinth of big-city corruption... read more

Keck's Exclusives: Which Charmed Witch is Headed to a SVU Sex Club?

Rose McGowan

NBC's Law & Order: SVU has conjured up one wicked guest star for an upcoming spring episode. Former Charmed witch Rose McGowan, who played the bewitching Paige on the long-running WB hit, has been cast as another kind of temptress.

"Our episode is called Bombshell and Rose McGowan is the ultimate bombshell," SVU executive producer Neal Baer told me this past weekend at the Writer's Guild Awards. "Rose plays a grifter named Cassandra who strikes swinging men who frequent sex clubs. And we're very excited to have her."

The 37-year-old beauty... read more

Keck's Exclusives: SVU's Lucky Thirteen?

Law & Order: SVU

Are Law & Order: SVU stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni going to make it to a 13th season? "We're in discussions," Mariska told me at the SAG Awards. "I love the show so deeply. I can't imagine not doing it anymore."

Plus, there's one thing she still hopes for Olivia Benson before calling it quits ... read more

Keck's Exclusives: James Franco as Jack Tripper?

James Franco

After having fun at the Sundance Film Fest with a Three's Company-themed art installation, unpredictable Oscar host and Lead Actor nominee James Franco is getting more serious about plans for his favorite '70s sitcom.

"When we were accepted to Sundance, we didn't have the series rights, but then the Three's Company estate contacted us," James reports. "At first they were opposed to it, but then ... read more

Ask Matt: LOLA Changes, Glee, House, Chuck, Grey's Babies & More!

Law & Order: Los Angeles

Question: I thought Law & Order: Los Angeles was a fairly good replacement of the legacy L&O franchise. Recently, I read that it was changing gears and removing Skeet Ulrich's character and moving Alfred Molina's ADA back to being a cop and Terrence Howard's character as the full time ADA. What are your thoughts as to why this is? And isn't it a bit odd that a Senior ADA like Alfred Molina's character would be "demoted" back to being a cop? — Teresa
