Brüno beat dinosaurs at the box office, but can it beat Borat?
Sacha Baron Cohen's latest cringe-inducing mockumentary reeled in $30.4 million, good enough to win the weekend. But Brüno made half of its total on Friday and took an atypical nosedive over the weekend. Movies usually gross more over the weekend — Saturday especially — but Brüno only made $8.8 million on Saturday and $7.2 million on Sunday.

Up
Up floated to the top of the box office in its opening weekend, filling its balloons with $68.2 million. That's good enough for No.3 on the animation giant Pixar's all-time list, trailing only Finding Nemo (which opened with $70 mil) and The Incredibles.
Up was unanimously trumpeted by reviewers, and rightfully so. The action-comedy, about an elderly man (voiced by Ed Asner) who sets his house aloft on a journey to South America, was truly wonderful, remarkably original and teeming with ...

Star Trek
J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot beamed into its coffers $76.5 million in its opening weekend, well outpacing the $50 mil debut Paramount Pictures had (rather conservatively, one might say) predicted.
Star Trek took in $72.5 mil from Friday through Sunday, on top of $4 mil in midnight-Thursday receipts. Also included in its haul is $8.2 million in IMAX ticket sales, besting the super-big-screen record set last summer by The Dark Knight.
According to Exhibitor Relations, Star Trek made more on Friday alone — $26.8 million — than ...
