The Bill Engvall Show
Bill Engvall Show
9/8c TBS
For three seasons now, Bill Engvall's sitcom has been addressing the quirks of married life and family dynamics. Consider it the Engvall Angle. These are nice little perspectives on domestic tug-of-wars, such as the up-and-down battles over lowering the toilet seat. Or shaving a beard, as is the case tonight. It gets hairy in the Pearson household when Susan demands that Bill cut off his post-fishing-trip beard. Bill stands up to her and refuses, which is never a good move for a husband, no doubt. And it'll be a close shave for brainiac Bryan when he takes a cue from Trent and begins tormenting Lauren.

The culinary contest turns on the heat as we start dipping into the last course. (The season finale airs next week.) All eyes are on the remaining four food fighters — Rick Bayless, Michael Chiarello, Hubert Keller and Anita Lo — when they whip up meals while blindfolded. Afterward, the chefs must cater a large event, but the challenge comes with a catch: They are forbidden to handle the food, and must instead tap into their teaching and leadership skills. Assisting them are erstwhile Top Chef contestants, including the fiery Dale Talde, who evidently gets into a dishin'-and-dissin' duel with Chiarello.

Heather's regurgitation strategy seems to have worked for now. So did Lauren's cattiness. (Not only was Luke not offended, but he sent two gals she dissed packing!) And, in the end, Kristian's groveling ("You're the perfect man") did the trick as well. All three remain among the 12 left standing tonight. It's prom night, an evening of no small psychological significance for many heavyset folks. There are also two one-on-one dates, and at the ring ceremony, Luke reduces the field to eight.

It doesn't matter who is on the chopping block tonight because one of the houseguests will secretly be given the power of coup d'etat, which allows him or her to replace one or both nominees for eviction right before the live vote. Viewer votes determine the coup d'etat winner and the person can use the newfound advantage tonight or next week.
