Long before Jonathan Jackson was cast as tempestuous loverboy Avery Barkley on ABC's Nashville, he was playing Lucas Lorenzo "Lucky" Spencer on the network's hit daytime soap General Hospital — a little gig that won him a massive fan following and five Emmy awards.
Gina Tognoni, Tom Hallick
What's 36 years between appearances? Tom Hallick, an original cast member of The Young and the Restless, is returning to the CBS soap but not as Brad Eliot, the heartthrob neurosurgeon turned news reporter he played from 1973 to '78. Instead, on Sept. 26, Hallick will be seen as a kindly truck driver who helps an on-the-lam Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) find her way back to Genoa City. The setup is a trippy homage to the premiere episode of Y&R — in fact, the soap's very first scene — which had Brad getting a lift from a truck driver heading to GC.
Shemar Moore, Kristoff St. John
You can go home again — though you might be in for a shock. On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore returns to the daytime soap role that put him on the map 20 years ago, Malcolm Winters on CBS's The Young and the Restless. The two-episode experience left Moore, who left the show in 2005, stunned and pretty frazzled. He told TV Guide Magazine all about it.
TV Guide Magazine: Back to the old suds grind, eh? How'd it go in Genoa City?
Shemar Moore: It was both wonderful and scary. It was the same set ...
When you have this much talent, you just have to spread it around. This fall, Emmy-winning soap sensation Eileen Davidson will find herself in the enviable and unprecedented position of playing juicy, front-burner roles on both NBC's Days of Our Lives and CBS's The Young and the Restless. Why such generosity of spirit on the part of rival networks? It's all about survival — and we don't mean Davidson's.
The Bold and the Beautiful...and the hilarious? Comedy great Fred Willard has been set for a four-episode guest appearance on the hit CBS soap opera playing John Forrester, younger brother of fashion king Eric Forrester (John McCook). John is also the father of jewelry designer Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer), the show's new Aussie beauty who was recently brought to America by Eric to help out with the family business.
Bob Barker on The Bold and the Beautiful
The price is wrong, bitch! Game show icon Bob Barker will spoof his classic fight scene from Happy Gilmore — the one where he beat the bejesus out of Adam Sandler — on the Thursday, Aug. 28 episode of CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful. The plot has bad boy Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) foolishly mouthing off about Barker's pet cause — pets! Not only does TV Guide Magazine have an exclusive video preview of the resulting smackdown (below), we also spoke to the 90-year-old Barker to get all the deets.
The Young and the Restless has finally found its Adam Newman! TV Guide Magazine can exclusively report that, after an extensive casting search, the part of the presumed-dead Genoa City troublemaker has gone to former Smallville and Revenge star Justin Hartley. The actor will report for work at the CBS soap in late September and is scheduled to hit the air during November sweeps.
Kim Matula. Darin Brooks
Sound the trumpets! Hope Logan has finally made up her mind. Daytime's splashiest soap opera, CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful, went on location to Paris and Monte Carlo to shoot the conclusion of a year-long triangle that has the love-torn heroine (played by Kim Matula) deciding which of two Spencer brothers she's going to wed. Will it be flaky sweetheart Liam (Scott Clifton) or feisty opportunist Wyatt (Darin Brooks)? Spoiler alert! Though Hope is seemingly committed to Liam right now, she will end up married to Wyatt by the end of the episode airing Wednesday, Aug. 13.
How ya gonna keep 'em down on the Bel Air farm, after they've seen Paree? CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful went on location to Paris and Monaco for the latest twist in the Hope-Wyatt-Liam love triangle, and TV Guide Magazine has a first-look clip!
This fashion montage, from the soap's Aug. 8 episode, features goddess-in-training Hope Logan (Kim Matula) modeling the Hope for the Future Diamond in the famed Trocadero Gardens, with the Eiffel Tower in the background and one of her lover boys, Wyatt (Darin Brooks), looking on adoringly.
Lauralee Bell, Doug Davidson and Melody Thomas Scott
Honeymoon for three? On CBS's The Young and the Restless, hotshot attorney Christine (Lauralee Bell) has been in a tizzy since learning that her hubby Paul (Doug Davidson) and his pal Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) created a child decades ago when they were members of a hippie love cult. This bizarre development — news to everyone in Genoa City, including the parents — has really bonded Paul and Nikki, to the point where he now seems hesitant to go through with plans to have a baby with Christine. What's worse, that damn drama queen Nikki won't go away! On Aug. 8, she's so emotionally distraught she intrudes on Christine and Paul's long-delayed honeymoon. TV Guide Magazine went to lunch with the three stars to find out where this divine mess is headed.
