Biggest Loser Tips for Staying Healthy During the Holidays

Nicole Brewer

Holidays are a time for family, fun and, of course, food — which doesn't mean you have to throw all your hard work to the wayside. The Biggest Loser host Alison Sweeney, Season 4 winner Bill Germanakos and Couples contestant Nicole Brewer offer some tips to stay healthy during the holidays and beyond.

Treat Thanksgiving like any other day
It's easy to use any holiday — especially those that revolve around food — as a "cheat" day, so Germanakos suggests treating it as "just another day." Just because many people gain a few pounds during the holidays, "it does not give you a free lease to go ahead and ruin what you work so hard for all year long," he says. "It's a matter of taking some precautions and trying not to overdo it." Newlywed Brewer makes sure she doesn't deprive herself. "I definitely have a spoonful of everything so I can feel like I had Thanksgiving dinner, but I don't go for a second plate."

Filling up on the good stuff
Fill up on healthier options, leaving little room for the higher calorie items. Sweeney does this by eating...

Biggest Loser's Rebecca Dishes About Her Romance and Rudy

Rebecca Meyer

Rebecca Meyer may have lost 73 pounds on the Biggest Loser ranch, but in the weeks after her elimination she gained a boyfriend: fellow contestant Daniel Wright.

"We didn't really like each other all that well in the beginning, and went from not liking each other to becoming friends to becoming best friends. After we both left the show, we wanted to spend hours on the phone talking to each other. I fell in love with my best friend," Rebecca told reporters the day after her elimination aired.

Biggest Loser's Daniel and Shay On Their "Second Chances" Season

The Biggest Loser - Shay Sorrells, Daniel Wright

During the first week on The Biggest Loser campus, Daniel Wright — who competed on last season's The Biggest Loser: Couples — chose Shay Sorrells, the heaviest contestant, as his partner. Together they were Team Orange but were eventually disbanded when pairs became Blue vs. Black which then became singles. In a week when not one, but two, contestants were sent home, both 20-year-old Daniel (who started at 312 pounds and now weighs 224) and 30-year-old Shay (who began at 476 pounds and is now 322) had two of the lower weight-loss percentages. The dismissed duo discussed their nine weeks on the ranch.

TVGuide.com: How did the opportunity to return for another season arise?
Daniel Wright: I was at the finale of Season 7 and producers said, "Would you be willing to [do a "second chance" season] and we start filming in three days." I said, "Wow. First off, I'd like to rest, but second off, sure. I have so much more weight I need to lose and I need to go, so absolutely."

TVGuide.com: Were you worried you'd be targeted because you were a past contestant?
Wright: Oh yeah, absolutely. I knew that I could be targeted because...

Biggest Loser Villain Tracey Has "Amazing Relationships With All of the Contestants"

Tracey Yukich, The Biggest Loser

Tracey Yukich spent her first few days on The Biggest Loser ranch in the hospital, only to come back and game-play more than any other contestant. Dubbed this season's villain, the 37-year-old homemaker from Texas created enemies all around her, betraying some of her allies when she won the power of choosing teams. After being up for elimination against roommate Liz, Tracey — who's not sharing her current weight until the finale — was ultimately voted out this week. TVGuide.com caught up with the mother of four who has no regrets about her time on campus and says she has "amazing relationships" with the other Biggest Loser contestants.

TVGuide.com: Do you think you played the game too hard?
Tracey Yukich: On the show ... Alison said, "Tracey, some of these choices you made at the beginning have come back to bite you," and I said, "We all have regrets." After I got home and really thought about what I said, I don't have regrets. From day one, I felt like...

Abby Rike's Biggest Loser Experience "Worked Out the Way It Was Supposed To"

Abby Rike

Abby Rike knows tragedy. Three years prior to her Biggest Loser journey, the high school teacher lost her husband, 5-year-old daughter, and 2-week-old son in a car accident. Rike, who has now lost a total of 82 pounds, went to the ranch determined to live life again. She was eliminated midway through the season when she nominated herself as the sacrificial member of the Black team to go home. The 32-year-old fan favorite told TVGuide.com why she feels she made the right choice, how unexpected her media attention has been and which former contestant has become her at-home support system.

TVGuide.com: Why did you volunteer yourself to go home?
Abby Rike: It had been an incredibly emotional week, and at the end, [Amanda] was on the cusp, something was going on with Daniel, and Shay, quite frankly, I'd take a bullet for. I went on the show to get a life back and I felt like I was getting it. It was never about a game for me, it was never about prize money — the prize for me was life. So at that moment, I felt that I was really blessed and it was just what needed to be done. It was the right choice for me.

TVGuide.com: How did you feel about being put on Jillian's team and separated from Allen?
Rike: As soon as Tracey won the golden ticket, I had a sneaking suspicion that...

Biggest Loser's Dina Talks About Her Elimination

Dina Mercado

At 253 pounds, Dina Mercado went the Biggest Loser ranch hoping to get healthy for her and her son. Dina was paired with powerhouse Rudy until the fifth week when the dynamic duo was split up. One week later, Dina and the rest of the Black team spent a week at home while Blue remained on campus. Dina's team lost the weigh-in as a result of its trainer-less time. Despite not having the smallest weight loss on her team, Dina was voted out.

"I think things would've been a lot different had the Blue team gone home," Dina told TVGuide.com. "Black team would have ultimately won the weigh-in."

Dina credits competitor Tracey's game play and lack of heart for splitting her up from Rudy and her other allies. "Going into that whole situation I pretty much knew she was going to split us because...
