Toy Story 3 Tops Box Office with Record-Setting Haul

Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3 had a huge play date with moviegoers over the weekend, earning $109 million to bow at No. 1 and become Pixar's highest-grossing opener ever, according to Box Office Mojo.

The sequel is the third animated film to crack the triple-digit mark on opening weekend — after 2004's Shrek 2 ($108 million) and 2007's Shrek the Third ($121.6 million) — and is the first Pixar film to do so. The previous record for a Pixar opening was the $70.4 million haul by The Incredibles in 2004.
