Royal Reign (Lil' Kim)

Is it surprising at all that the self-proclaimed Queen Bee gave her daughter a regal name?

Birdie and Cricket (Busy Philipps and Marc Silverstein)

Would you expect a normal name from someone named Busy? (The actress' real name is Elizabeth.) The Cougar Town star and her screenwriter husband named their daughter after Lady Bird Johnson after hearing a radio show discussing the former first lady. "My husband said, 'Wow, what a cool woman.'" They kept the bird theme with their second little girl. In response to the criticism of the names, Philipps tweeted, "It's weird people think my kids will be in therapy because of their names. Guys, my kids will be [in] therapy for LOTS of reasons, I'm sure."

So The Sun was right. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have named their new daughter North West. (Though it should really be spelled it Knorth, right?) While the reason and pun are obvious here, that's not the case for many other wacky celebrity baby names. Get the details on how and why these stars gave/burdened their offspring with such kooky monikers.

Pilot Inspektor (Jason Lee and Beth Riesgraf)

Pilot Inspektor is not even a job, let alone a name (spelled with a K, no less), but the My Name Is Earl and Leverage stars gave their son this moniker after the Granddaddy song "He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot." Inspektor came from Christopher Masterson, the younger brother of Lee's friend Danny Masterson.

Audio Science (Shannyn Sossamon and Dallas Clayton)

The A Knight's Tale star and her children's book author-beau didn't turn to a baby name book to name their firstborn son. "We wanted a word not a name, so my boyfriend read through the dictionary three of four times,” Sossamon explained. “We were going to call him Science, but thought it might get shortened to Sci, as in Simon."

Lion (Alex O'Loughlin and Malia Jones)

The Hawaii Five-0 star just wants to make life more difficult for his kids, even when life is difficult already. "My first son’s name is Saxon, I kind of like to give my children names where they can’t just go on welfare comfortably, you know?” he said. "The welfare people will be like, Lion O’Loughlin? You gotta run a country or something. At least run a television network station."

Apple (Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin)

The couple got biblical for both their kids' names (son Moses is named after the Coldplay song "Moses" that Martin wrote for Paltrow). "[Apple] sounded so sweet and it conjured such a lovely picture for me," Paltrow explained to Oprah. "You know, apples are so sweet and they're wholesome and it's biblical, and I just thought it sounded so lovely and … clean! And I just thought, 'Perfect!'"

Kal-El (Nicolas Cage and Alice Cage)

Surely, this is pretty self-explanatory, right? Cage is a die-hard Superman fan and thus gave his son Superman's birth name. And no, he has not changed his name to Jor-El.

Seven (Erykah Badu and Andre 3000)

Lucky No. 7? The singer gave her son the numeral moniker because "[it’s] a number and a force that cannot be divided." OK, then. Badu also has two daughters named Puma and Mars, but has yet to explain those meanings.

Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence (Uma Thurman and Aprad Busson) Good luck filling out paperwork! Thurman and her financier fiancé couldn't agree on a name, so the actress' older daughter, Maya, came to the rescue. "[Maya] came up with the best excuse, [which] was that I probably wouldn't get to have any more children, so I just put every name I liked into [this one]," Thurman told Jimmy Fallon. They call her Luna for short.

Denim and Diezel (Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis)

The singer originally planned to spell her first son's name as Denham with a silent H. "But when we were in the hospital … the nurse said, 'How’s little baby Den-ham?' So we started spelling it like the jean," Braxton explained. As for her second son, his name just so happened to be a brand of jeans. Diezel's namesake is German inventor Rudolf Diesel, who created the Diesel engine. (Lewis is half-German.)

Sparrow James Midnight (Nicole Richie and Joel Madden)

The couple each had different motivations for the avian-inspired name. Richie liked the way it sounded with their daughter's name Harlow, while Madden was reminded of Johnny Cash's song "A Boy Named Sue." "My worry raising a son in Hollywood is, what will he have to struggle for?" he said. "I wanted to give him a name that he’s going to have to stand up for.”

Banjo (Rachel Griffiths and Andrew Taylor)

No, he is not named after the instrument. A proud Aussie, Griffiths named her son after the famed Australian poet and journalist Banjo Paterson, who penned the country's unofficial anthem "Waltzing Matilda."

Bronx Mowgli (Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz)

Brooklyn is usually the New York borough of choice when it comes to names, but the former couple went for Bronx after "throwing it back and forth" for a while," Wentz explained to Ryan Seacrest. Their son's middle name is after the lead character in Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. "The Jungle Book was something that me and Ashlee bonded over, so … it's a cool name."

Moxie CrimeFighter (Penn Jillette and Emily Zolten)

Yes, that's one word with a capital F. The magician picked Moxie for his daughter because it's a "purely American word" that "stands for old fashioned spunk and energy." CrimeFighter is more of a joke because Zolten does not have a middle name. "When she gets pulled over by the police she can show her license and say, ‘We’re on the same side, officer. My middle name is CrimeFighter," he said.

Buddy Bear Maurice, Poppy Honey Rosie, Daisy Boo Pamela and Petal Blossom Rainbow (Jamie Oliver and Jools Oliver) The British chef leaves all naming responsibility to his wife, who is apparently very indecisive and a fan of flowers. "They all have more than one name because I couldn't decide," Jools said. "I'm not sure where Petal Rainbow came from — apparently it’s a My Little Pony! I wanted to call her Rainbow but Jamie told me to calm down." Mrs. Oliver also doesn't care if you don't like their family's quirky names. "I hate people’s opinions on names. Whatever you call your baby is your decision."

Charlie-Ballerina and Bastian Kick (Jeremy Sisto and Addie Lane) The Suburgatory star and his wife found Ballerina in the dictionary and purposely hyphenated it. "So she can go by Charlie [or] Chuck B," he said. "I’m hoping she goes for Chuck B." As for his son, Sisto said that he "felt like a B [name]" and got his middle name from Robert Kennedy Jr. the boyfriend of his co-star Cheryl Hines. "[His daughter is called] Kick and that was actually where I came up with it," he said. "It was inspiration."

Racer, Rocket, Rebel and Rogue (Robert Rodriguez and Elizabeth Avellan) And you thought the Kardashians went krazy with Ks. The director found his four sons' monikers not in a baby name book, not in the dictionary, but a dog name book. His daughter Rhiannon escaped that trend — she's named after the Fleetwood Mac song.

Autumn, Sonnet, Ocean and True (Forest Whitaker and Keisha Whitaker) Autumn's not bad, but paired with Sonnet, Ocean and True, it's all a little… precious. But the Oscar winner gave them all a long thought — and a lot for his kids to aspire to. "I want those names to be their destiny, for my daughter to be honest and my son to be expansive," he said. "I try to be like a forest, revitalizing and constantly growing." No pressure, guys!

Peanut (Ingo Rademacher and Ehiku Rademacher)

The General Hospital star and Dancing with the Stars contestant starting giving his son the foodie nickname in utero and it stuck. "It kind of represented joy and happiness to us," he said. "It puts a smile on everyone's face."
