But Booth returns to town with a new girlfriend, a journalist he met in Afghanistan.

Premieres: Sunday, Sept. 26 at 10/9c Where We Left Off: Ojai went out of business, but Nora discovered that Narrow Lake was actually a water reserve. Saul discovered he was HIV-positive and after a massive car crash, Robert was killed and Holly was severely injured. What's Next: The show will jump ahead a year, focusing on Kitty as she begins to date again. Meanwhile, Kevin and Scotty take in a troubled Latino teen and Rebecca and Justin call it quits as Emily VanCamp exits the series.

Premieres: Monday, Sept. 20 at 10/9c Where We Left Off: Beckett finally realized her feelings for Castle and broke up with her boyfriend. However, Castle reconciled with one of his ex-wives and left to spend the summer with her in the Hamptons. What's Next: Castle will be suspected of murder in the season premiere. Also: Look for the release of Castle's new book and a season-long serial killer storyline.

Criminal Minds

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 9/8c Where We Left Off: The BAU team traveled to Los Angeles to track a killer who attacks his victims in the dark. The team works with Detective Spicer, who was a survivor of the killer's first attack years ago. The unsub kills Spicer and kidnaps his daughter. What's Next: Tim Curry returns as serial killer Billy Flynn in the conclusion of the story. Also: cast member A.J. Cook will wrap up her character's storyline before exiting the show for good.

Premieres: Thursday, Sept. 23 at 9/8c Where We Left Off: The team tracked down and killed Dr. Jekyll, thanks to a little help from Nate Haskell, who in the season's closing moments stabs Dr. Langston and leaves him bleeding on the floor. What's Next: Bill Irwin will return as Nate Haskell, while Langston fights for his life. Justin Bieber will guest-star as a troubled teen and the CSIs will work with a new bombs expert.

Premieres: Sunday, Oct. 3 at 10/9c Where We Left Off: Delko rejoined Horatio's team as a serial killer taunted the CSIs with clues about all his victims. Finally, the killer attacked CSI headquarters, leaving nearly every member of the team unconscious and in danger. What's Next: Somebody doesn't make it: Look for a funeral in the premiere episode's closing moments to draw the team closer together than ever before.

Premieres: Friday, Sept. 24 at 9/8c Where We Left Off: An escaped serial killer targeted Danny and Lindsay while they were on vacation. After a confrontation, Casey showed up at the couple's house, and during the struggle a gun was fired. What's Next: Following the events of the finale, Lindsay is awarded a medal for her bravery, but the stress of the event leads her to therapy. Meanwhile, Sela Ward joins the cast as a new CSI who has relocated from Washington, D.C.

Meanwhile, Quinn will head up an investigation that suspects Dexter as Rita's murderer.

What's Next: James Tupper checks in as a trauma counselor that must clear each doc before he or she can return to the OR. However, the Grey sisters are nowhere near the top of that list.

What's Next: Jane's obsession with Red John becomes even stronger; he'll come to the aid of his con man brother-in-law when he is suspected of murder.

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 8/7c Where We Left Off: Abby discovered Gibbs' secret connection to the murder of Pedro Hernandez in Mexico. While in Mexico, Gibbs was captured by Pablo's daughter, Paloma Reynosa, who sought vengeance for her father's death. In the season's closing moments, Paloma turned up at the store of Gibbs' father, Jackson. What's Next: Gibbs must face the team after the information of his past gets out. Plus: executive producer Shane Brennan promises several origin stories that explain how the team members all ended up at NCIS.

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 9/8c Where We Left Off: The team discovers information about Callen's mysterious past, but the evidence is destroyed in an explosion. What's Next: Callen's search will continue as Marty Deeks joins the team full time as Kinsey's new partner.

Premieres: Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 10/9c Where We Left Off: Stahl framed Gemma for the murder of Cameron's son. Heartbroken, Cameron seeks revenge by killing Half Sack and kidnapping Jax's son Abel. What's Next: Jax is a broken, angry man who rejects even those closest to him, including Tara. Gemma, despite being on the lam, returns home to visit her father, played by Hal Holbrook.

Premieres: Friday, Sept. 24 at 9/8c Where We Left Off: The apocalypse was avoided as Lucifer, locked in Sam’s body, was trapped once again in hell. In the aftermath, Dean went off to live a normal life with Lisa and Ben, though he was spied upon by a seemingly alive Sam. What's Next: The show will return to its roots — specifically Season 1, when Sam and Dean hunted someone or something new every week.

The Vampire Diaries

Premieres: Thursday, Sept. 9 at 8/7c Where We Left Off: Well, Founder's Day went up in flames, and so did more than a few vampires. In the process, Alaric and Damon uncharacteristically worked together to keep people safe. What's Next: The Lockwood family has an ancient secret, and it's coming out to play this season. Alaric and Damon will work with a bright young grad student to protect Mystic Falls from yet another supernatural incursion: werewolves.
