Despite giving a performance that practically brought to life an inanimate character, Scarlett Johansson could not be nominated for her voiceover work in Her, which was a shame to screenwriter Jonze. "I saw what she did and loved what she did and I was moved and affected by watching her create that character even though it was just a voice," Jonze said.

Matthew McConaughey (Best Leading Actor for Dallas Buyers Club) The bad news is that McConaughey reiterated that he would not return for True Detective's second season. The good news is that he won an Oscar on his very first nomination. "I did not expect it. "The script, no one wanted to make it… and I'm standing here now, and I got a prize for excellence for the work I do for something that's not my job… it's my career."

The producers may be riding high from winning an Oscar for Best Picture, but, for Brad Pitt, it was just another normal day. "I had to clean up dog poop today in my bedroom," he said, noting that he will be celebrating with Angelina Jolie after the show.
