How hot is Black Swan's Mila Kunis? Hot enough to pull off this lavender gown even though it looks a lot like undergarments. Somehow, it just works.

Winter's Bone star Jennifer Lawrence adds some color to the carpet in this simple-but-stunning red gown.

We really like Amy Adams' blue gown, but her hair just seems lazy and inappropriate for the Oscars. Also, the necklace is overkill. From TV Guide Network fashion expert Nick Verreos: I loved the L'Wren Scott all-over paillette-sequined, cap-sleeved gown and I loved the Cartier necklace… but not together! Not sure if this was the best look for Amy.

Mandy Moore's gown is bursting with sparkly goodness, but we really love how the sleek shape hugs her in all the right places.

Scarlett Johansson forgot to use a hairbrush. Also, the fact that we can see her bra through the gown seems a little too dressed-down for the Oscars. From TV Guide Network fashion expert Nick Verreos: It's hard to ever say that Scarlett looks bad, but this certainly wasn't one of her best red carpet moments. Although the back of this Dolce & Gabbana gown was interesting, the dark burgundy color and the all-over lace made her somehow look... dowdy, which is no easy feat.

Didn't Marisa Tomei wear this gown on a red carpet in the '80s? Also, the top doesn't fit her particularly well.

Michelle Williams' sparkly short-sleeved gown stands out in the right ways.

Nicole Kidman really should have left the table runner on the front of her gown wherever she found it. The flares on the hips failed to flatter her figure.

We love the bold color choice and halter style of Jennifer Hudson's gown. Plus, the detail along the hip adds a bit of interest to the otherwise simple design. From TV Guide Network fashion expert Nick Verreos: Jennifer Hudson took everyone's breath away in this Versace Atelier coral halter ball gown. When she arrived on the red carpet, there was a audible gasp of "wow" from everyone! A perfect example of a statement-making gown featuring architectural draping.

From the shoulders up, Busy Phillips looks great. But the bottom half of the gown explodes in a mess of unruly ruffles.

We're glad Christian Bale finally cut his hair, but his beard doesn't match the drapes.

Sure, Florence Welch is a musician, but she should know that she needs to glam it up for the Oscars. She could at least have put her hair up if she insists on going with this Holly Hobbie look.

Sandra Bullock's look is the epitome of Oscars glamour. The color and structure of the gown is just perfect, and thank goodness she got rid of those bangs.

True Grit's Hailee Steinfeld looks like a princess in her blush gown. From TV Guide Network fashion expert Nick Verreos: Hailee was both age-appropriate and elegant in a custom Marchesa gown that she helped design. She looked like a modern-day Cinderella. The tea length was both refreshing and modern.

What's going on with the usually stunning Anne Hathaway? We can only assume she chose this gown because she knew she'd be changing throughout the night.

Gwyneth Paltrow seems to be auditioning to be the Oscar statuette, but she has the figure to pull it off. Regardless, it's hard to take your eyes of her simple metallic gown.

We don't love the Easter egg pastel color scheme of the dress, but we give Cate Blanchett credit for making an interesting fashion statement. She's the only person who could make this look work. From TV Guide Network fashion expert Nick Verreos: Cate Blanchett — always the Fashionista — wore this directional Givenchy Haute Couture by designer Riccardo Tisci sequined "Armour" gown. It was edgy yet glamorous and perfect for presenting the Best Costume Design Award.

Halle Berry rarely disappoints on the red carpet, and this look is no exception. The sprinkling of diamonds is a nice touch to cut through the poufy fabric.

Expectant mom Natalie Portman radiates in this plum gown with an empire waist that offers a nice silhouette of her baby bump.

Erin Andrews didn't win the Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing with the Stars, but she apparently modeled her gown after it.

It's hard to believe, but Penelope Cruz just gave birth one month ago, and this fiery, sequined red gown accentuates her new curves perfectly.

Yet another hot mama. Celine Dion, who gave birth to twins in October, is white-hot in this shimmering, V-neck floor-length dress. And is that the Heart of the Ocean around her neck?

Reese Witherspoon is beautiful, but this look is so safe. Snooze.

Someone should tell Sharon Stone that auditions for Black Swan ended years ago.

Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank shines like a true belle of the silver screen in this strapless number. The feathered train adds a nice touch. It is the year of Black Swan after all. From TV Guide Network fashion expert Nick Verreos: Hillary was one of my favorites of the night in a custom Gucci strapless, sequined and feathered gown. It was a softer and more "ladylike" Hillary and I liked it! Loved the chic chignon as well.

Is Helen Mirren queen of the red carpet? The Oscar winner shows off her svelte figure in this slate gown. The puffed sleeves also add a unique look.

Melissa Leo's Elvis-inspired gown seems more appropriate for a movie premiere — not Hollywood's biggest night. From TV Guide Network fashion expert Nick Verreos: Best Supporting Actress Winner Melissa Leo's white embroidered lace metallic Marc Bouwer gown was not one of my faves. It looked heavy and cumbersome and the high collar was more "Elvis in Vegas" than red carpet diva.

At least Kathryn Bigelow looked great last year when she won for The Hurt Locker. Looks like someone got after her shoulders with scissors in the limo.

We're glad Helena Bonham Carter could both rein in her wild side and also be true to herself — she looks great.

It's hard to screw up a basic tux, but the careful tailoring of Justin Timberlake's suit distinguishes him from the black-and-white pack. From TV Guide Network fashion expert Nick Verreos: Justin looked dashing in his wide-lapeled tuxedo — it fit his lean frame perfectly and should be an example to all young guys out there: It's always good to look polished and Cary Grant elegant!
