In honor of Earth Day, we look at Hollywood's greatest greens — not necessarily the biggest environmentalists, but our favorite people with emerald-themed names. Kermit the Frog is an honorary addition, not because he has a green name, but because, well, he always recycles. Here are 12 personalities who prove it is easy being green.

Brian Austin Green

Green shot to fame with another color moniker: David Silver. Nearly two decades later, Green is still metallic as Smallville's Metallo — the cyborg villain who uses green kryptonite as his power source. Speaking of power, you can save it in your home by using fluorescent lightbulbs instead of incandescent ones. Fluorescent bulbs use a quarter of the energy and last up to 10 times longer.

Green Hornet

This crime-fighting vigilante — who will be portrayed by Seth Rogen in an upcoming film — uses awesome martial arts skills and special guns that shoot "stings" and incapacitating gas to knock out the baddies. You can stop emitting extra gas by turning off your car engine when you're waiting for someone, so you aren't wasting fuel without going anywhere.

Seth Green

This ginger-haired Green is one child star who seems to have turned out just fine. While he's made his presence known in a plethora of on-screen and behind-the-scenes pursuits, we still love him the most as Scott Evil, whose dad had an evil scheme to extort one million dollars. When you're paying off your evil creditors, try to do it online. It saves trees and energy that's needed to transport paper bills.

The Green Goblin

One of Spider-Man's biggest foes, the Green Goblin (played by Willem Dafoe in the film series), terrorized New York City with his pumpkin bombs and a Goblin Glider that guzzles more than its share of gas, just like many cars, trucks and SUVs. You can make your driving life greener by getting regular tune-ups. Keeping your tires inflated and filters clean will burn less fuel.

Tom Green

This very funny Canada native has made us laugh with his song "Lonely Swedish (The Bum Bum Song)." Green's bum may be on a great many things, but getting off yours for a nice walk will relax you without burning any fossil fuels.

Green Lantern

This DC Comics hero, to be played by Ryan Reynolds, wields an almighty power ring that becomes stronger when its wearer's willpower is great. If you have the willpower to reduce greenhouse gases, you can use it to plant trees. They absorb carbon dioxide as they grow.

Eva Green

Who doesn't love exotic Greens? This French babe and former Bond girl's surname is actually pronounced "Greyne" (her father is Swedish). On top of that, there are double the "Greynes" — she's got a twin sister named Joy. You don't have to double up on waste when you print paper — use both sides of the sheet and only print what you need.

Green Day

The band's name may sound inspired by Earth Day, but these rockers have said they adopted it because of their fondness for marijuana. That said, exposure to secondhand smoke and other air pollutants, such car emissions and wood smoke, are not just bad for the environment, but for you as well. You can prevent air pollution by carpooling, and by replacing wood-burning stoves and fireplaces with EPA-certified inserts.

Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston, Friends)

This spoiled suburbanite-turned-waitress-turned-fashion executive grew the most of all our Friends, though her domestic skills leave much to be desired. Remember her beef trifle cake disaster? Still, you have to give her props for trying. Making your own meals instead of buying pre-made ones is a great way to be green in the kitchen. And when your meal is in the oven, resist the urge to peek! Every time you open the oven door, the temperature gets lower and your electricity bill gets higher.

Dr. Mark Greene (Anthony Edwards, ER)

Dr. Greene was the heart and soul of County General, and we could hardly hold back tears when he died in 2002. His last words to his daughter Rachel still stick with us: "Be generous. With your time, with your love, with your life." Speaking of time, before you hit the road, take a few extra minutes to plan out your travel routes, and to check online or call stores to see if the item you want is in stock. That saves you travel time and gas.

Greenzo (David Schwimmer, 30 Rock)

You can't talk about Greens without mentioning "America's first non-judgmental, business-friendly environmental advocate." Before Greenzo scared Meredith Vieira and let stardom get to his head, he offered some valuable green tips for the TGS gang: You should decide what you want before opening the refrigerator, and turn off your computer at night. Liz says she doesn't turn off hers because it takes a long time to reboot in the morning. "You know what else takes a long time? Building a new Earth!" Right on, Greenzo.

Jolly Green Giant

It's hard to believe, but everyone's favorite green giant with that lilting "ho, ho, ho" bombed out of the gate with his first ad in 1928 — mostly because he wasn't actually green or a giant or jolly, but was rather a gray, grouchy puppet. He was eventually transformed into the friendly green dude we know today who happily presides over his valley of vegetables. You can go green by growing your own veggies, which saves money. You might also fertilize your crops with all-natural pesticides.
