What is even happening?!

1. Zac Efron's faulty shirt

In 2014, Zac Efron won the MTV Movie Award for Best Shirtless Performance. During his acceptance speech, Rita Ora did just what every audience member and viewer truly wanted to happen, to be honest. She ripped off his shirt, proving that Efron really deserved that golden popcorn.

2. Jim Carrey's hippie alter ego

No one knew who the shaggy (probably smelly) gentleman was sauntering around the MTV Movie Awards in 1999, but when Jim Carrey won the award for Best Male performance for The Truman Show, all became clear. Jim's hippie character complimented all of the ladies in the audience. That is, if you can call saying there was "fine-looking p***y" in the audience a compliment. Never breaking character, he then went on to criticize MTV's music selections.

3. Lindsay Lohan: Hostest with the Mostest

LiLo hosted the MTV Movie Awards in 2004 at the age of 17. This was before the law-breaking Lindsay we all know and love really came to be. She opened the show with a pretty fantastic dance number featuring Omarion, Marques Houston and Lil' Saint's Dance Crew.

4. Andy Samberg explodes on the MTV Movie Awards

When Andy Samberg hosted the MTV Movie Awards, he was in the midst of turning SNL shorts into the YouTube phenoms they are today. It was only natural for him to do an epic video for a kooky song, "Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions," featuring director JJ Abrams on the keyboard. Oh, and Will Ferrell joined in on the fun, too.

5. Snoop and Kesha smoke a J

It's no secret that Snoop Dogg smokes his share of marijuana (and then some), and Kesha has never claimed to be a saint. So when the two took to the MTV Movie Awards stage in 2013 and sparked a doobie, no one should have been shocked. Well, OK, the producers were probably shocked as they scrambled to figure out how to avoid a PR nightmare.

6. R-Gos and Rachel McAdams: Make-out edition

Let's take a moment to remember a blessed moment in time when The Notebook stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were dating in real life, and won the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. The year was 2005, and their on-stage acceptance smooch was just about as hot as their rain-soaked lip-lock in The Notebook.

7. A Kiss at Twilight

Another too-hot couple from back in the day, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, ruled the Best Kiss category for several years. Their string of memorable Twilight kisses scooped up the awards for Best Kiss in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012. Their acceptance kisses were always a little bit awkward, a lotta bit steamy and never quite landed. But in 2011, RPatz had no trouble making out with fellow Twilight hottie Taylor Lautner.

8. Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen get busy

One more kiss for the books: Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen took the popcorn for their Talladega Nights kiss in 2007. And, in true MTV Movie Awards fashion, they relived the kiss on stage and things got a little hot and heavy and hilarious.

9. Love's Cruel Intentions

It was the turn of the century and a sexy kiss between Cruel Intentions stars Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar won the MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss. It made sense that a movie chronicling sexual escapades would take that win, and the kiss between Sarah and Selma in 2000 was oh-so worthy.

10. Sarah Silverman cozies up with Jessica Biel

Sarah Silverman hosted the MTV Movie Awards in 2007. Backstage, promoting the Best Kiss category, Sarah and actress Jessica Biel shared a sexy moment. We wonder how Justin Timberlake feels about JBiel's sensual past with Sarah Silverman.

11. Eminem versus Triumph

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was never in the business of making friends. To be frank, neither was Eminem back in 2011. After making serious fun of Moby, Triumph tried to go a few rounds with the rapper, but Em was NOT having it. His entourage kept the puppet at bay, and the producers rushed an introduction to a scantily clad Christina Aguilera.

12. Reese's rant

Sometimes, award recipients use their few seconds before the music starts to climb onto a soap box. In 2011, Reese Witherspoon went off about our fascination with reality stars and people who get famous due to sex tapes. It seemed very pointed at one sex-tape-star-turned-reality-star in particular, but we won't name any names. These things are hard to Keep Up With, after all.

13. Rainn Wilson and the teddy

For once all eyes weren't on Megan Fox. Office star Rainn Wilson presented Megan Fox with a bouquet of roses at the MTV Movie Awards in 2012. Rainn took the stage wearing only a teddy, and we're not talking lingerie. That was one well-placed stuffed bear.

14. tATu and the sexy groupies

#TBT to the time when tATu was one of the hottest acts around. During the performance of their hit "Not Gonna Get Us," the bouncing, bra-less pop stars welcomed a bevy of female groupies to dance and sing along while they stripped to their skivvies. Memories!

15. Kristen Stewart drops her popcorn

Twilight star Kristen Stewart isn't known to be graceful. In 2009, she grabbed the MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance and then immediately dropped it. It was a pretty big "oops," but it was to be expected from lovably klutzy Kristen.

16. Tom Cruise and Tom Crooze

In the year 2000, Tom Cruise was still a huge action star. Oh, wait, this just in: Tom Cruise is still technically a huge action star. Anyway, he was perhaps the biggest action star in 2000. Ben Stiller appeared as Tom Crooze, Tom Cruise's very devoted Mission Impossible stunt double.

17. Sacha Gets Butty-Butty with Eminem

Sacha Baron Cohen almost went too far when he landed ass-up in Eminem's lap at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. He was promoting his new character film, Bruno, by flying through the audience wearing wings and little else. When he landed on Eminem, the rapper's reaction was scarily believable. In the end, it turned out he was in on the joke.

18. Mark Wahlberg's dirty mouth

In 2014, Mark Wahlberg won the MTV Generation Award at the MTV Movie Awards. His acceptance speech kept the producers on their toes, as he dropped a number of expletives. Perhaps he thought MTV allowed the same freedom of speech as HBO, the home of Wahlberg's show Entourage.
