In keeping with this season's return to basics, the new BB house is designed to remind us of bygone days. The inviting front porch, complete with rocking chair, gives no hint of the deception sure to take place behind closed doors.

Each of the bedrooms has a different theme; this one takes the house guests back to a kids' room of the '50s, with pink-poodle and old-West cowboy beds.

The "Road to Woodstock" bedroom is a '60s hodgepodge of beanbags, smiley faces and the front of an actual VW bus. Though we're not sure how groovy that industrial-style lighting is....

Some of the younger house guests might actually recall the look of the '80s-punk room. Boom boxes and spray-painted messages adorn the walls, and red-and-black plaid accents the beds.

The all-American vibe brings the outdoors indoors with shingles, siding, aged wood and weather vanes in the living room.

A red-white-and-blue color scheme in the backyard brings the flag-waving message home; the stage is set for some seriously patriotic sunbathing.

You may find yourself doing a double-take - could it be that the BB hamsters have a neighbor But the house next door is actually just a mural.

Who knows what kind of scheming and plotting will take place this season behind the innocent-looking picket fence at the outdoor pool table

The downstairs salon transforms old-fashioned hair dryer stations into massage chairs, for when things really start to heat up.

Of course, there's no such thing as privacy in the Big Brother house - even in the bathroom. The house guests may feel all the more exposed in this "outhouse," with barrel sinks and swinging wooden shower doors.

The new BB house's piece de resistance is the Head of Household room, with its hotel-style decor, "city views" and six-foot-tall aquarium.
