Christoph Waltz, supporting actor (Inglourious Basterds)The Austrian actor won the first award of the evening for playing Nazi Hans Landa in the Quentin Tarantino thriller. "Oscar and Penelope. That's an uber-bingo," Waltz said after accepting his award from Penelope Cruz.

Pete Docter, animated feature (Up)Docter picked up the trophy for the Pixar flick. "Boy, never did I dream that making a flip book out of my third grade math book would lead to this," he said.

T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham, original song ("The Weary Kind," Crazy Heart)Burnett and Bingham won one of Crazy Heart's two awards of the evening.

Mo'Nique, supporting actress (Precious)The comedienne became the fourth African-American actress to win in the supporting category. She paid tribute to the first, Gone with the Wind's Hattie McDaniel. "I want to thank Miss Hattie McDaniel for enduring all that she had to so that I would not have to," she said.

Jeff Bridges, lead actor (Crazy Heart)A five-time nominee, Bridges finally won his first Oscar for his turn as country singer Bad Blake. He received a standing ovation as he made his way up to the stage.

Kathryn Bigelow, director (The Hurt Locker)Bigelow made Oscar history, becoming the first woman to win best director in the show's 82 years. She beat out her ex-husband, James Cameron (Avatar), for the honor as well.

Sandra Bullock, lead actress (The Blind Side)A day after showing up to pick up two Razzies, Bullock took home a best actress statuette. She is the first to win Razzies and an Oscar in the same year.
