Did you know your next big crush is also a bonafide pop star in Mexico?
Diego Boneta might not be a household name - yet - but the Scream Queens star is already a huge star in Mexico. Get to know him now, before all your friends fall in love with him too.
Boneta was born on Nov. 29, 1990 to Astrid Boneta and Lauro Gonzales, both of whom are engineers. He is of Mexican, Puerto Rican and Spanish descent and has triple citizenship for Mexico, the U.S. and Spain.
The actor made his television debut at the age of 12 on the children's reality competition Código F.A.M.A.
He went on to appear in two children's telenovelas, Alegrijes y Rebujos and Misión S.O.S, which earned him two nominations for Latin Grammys.
Boneta's big break came in 2005 when he was cast as Rocco on the Mexican teen telenovela Rebelde.
During his time on Rebelde, Boneta released his debut album Diego. The lead single became a hit in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil, prompting his first international tour with Mexican pop group RBD. He also opened for Hilary Duff during her three concerts in Mexico in 2006. Boneta released his second album, Indigo, in 2008 and has been busy working on this third.
Boneta got his first notable American TV role in 2010 when he played Spencer's love interest Alex Santiago on the first season of Pretty Little Liars. Unfortunately, the couple's relationship was cut short when A framed Spencer for applying for Alex to attend a European tennis camp after he told her not to.
In 2010, Boneta joined 90210 as Javier, a pop star who became involved with Adrianna. Boneta called Javier "practically me with a different name" and even composed original music for the role. Javier eventually was killed off in a car crash, after which Adrianna stole one of his songs.
Boneta's first movie was playing the romantic lead in Mean Girls 2, the oft-forgotten ABC Family sequel.
The actor finally got his first major feature film when he starred as Drew Boley in Rock of Ages opposite Alec Baldwin, Julianne Hough, Bryan Cranston and Tom Cruise. The role garnered Boneta an ALMA Award for Favorite Movie Actor and the title of CinemaCon's Rising Star of the Year.
Boneta returned to TV as one of the star's of MTV's short-lived Underemployed in 2012.
In 2014, Boneta was featured in Abercrombie and Fitch's global "Making of a Star" campaign.
In the past few years, Boneta has been busy. He appeared in the CBS mini-series The Dovekeepers and filmed numerous features, including Eden, Summer Camp, City of Dead Men and Another You. However, his most exciting upcoming project is Pelé, in which Boneta plays the soccer star's arch rival Jose.
His friend group will give you major FOMO. Boneta can count Darren Criss and Becky G amongst his posse off famous pals.
There are rumors the actor is dating his Scream Queens co-star Ariana Grande. When asked about their relationship, Boneta said, "I'm going to tell you that I love that we're together in the series, and I'll leave it at that."
If Boneta could play any part, he would want to play Batman. However, when given the chance to show off how he would play the iconic hero, Boneta struggled to hide his Mexican accent while doing a Batman voice.
